Fairly new to MobiControl and looking for some advice/suggestions around providing End Users of Kiosk mode devices, the ability to connect to a unique Wifi access points. As our devices are in Kiosk mode, the end user hasn’t got the ability to configure the device to connect to a Wifi access point. Basically the Kiosk lockdown screen overrides the ability to enter the credentials of the access point into the applicable settings window. Further to this, the environment which we operate is very much adhoc in nature. That is:• Details of the Wifi access points are not always predefined. (so pre-configuration not possible)• The number of available Wifi access points is fairly large. Background:We utilize approximately 40 Panasonic FZ-A2 tablets in fire fighting aircraft. As you can imagine, these devices are highly mobile and don’t necessarily remain in one district or region. Our primary method of connectivity is via cellular. However, whenever a devices isn’t airborne, we wish to try and utilize a local Wifi access point. Unfortunately there’s approximately 160 different access points which exist across our area of operations. To further complicate things, the Wifi access points are provided by different government organizations and/or supporting service providers. Setup:Hosted MobiControl Ver. 14.1.8.1064Panasonic FZ-A2, Android Enterprise, Agent Version 13.7.0 Build 1031, Kiosk mode enabled. Just looking for some advice on whether I’m approach this correctly and whether there would be a work around. (other than utilizing a third party application) Thanks in advance.
Hi, Any suggestions as to why Zebra devices wont enable network interfaces before a PIN has been entered? We are requiring a device PIN due to a certificate profile on the device. However when soft resetting the device, we are prompted for device pin (naturally). However the network interfaces are not enabled until the PIN has been entered, thus effectively cutting of a branch for the mobicontrol administrator. (The devices still have an administrative WPA2 network available). This is not the case for Samsung devices, they will activate interfaces to the network just fine before entering PIN. Any suggestions or workarounds?
Hello everybody, I'm encountering a problem with the remote control functionality on Zebra TC57 and Zebra TC77 devices. On our end, the remote control (both via HTML5 and the legacy downloadable plugin) shows a black screen inside the device skin. Yet if we click somewhere in that black screen, the remote control does actually work and we're able to control the device. Its screen just will not show. So if we haven't got the device itself nearby, we can't see what we're doing. Here's what we're using: MobiControl version: 14.3.1.1189 (cloud-based)Zebra TC57 and Zebra TC77Android 8.1.0, OEM version 01-13-20.00-OG-U12-STDAgent version: 13.7.0.1031 (GoogleMobiControl1370_1031.apk, DO mode)Remote control version 1.15.3.109 ("MDMPlugin_Notification" v1.0 from Zebra_Hawkeye_RC_AE_1.6.0.102.pcg) Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Theun
Hello, I have several Zebra TC56 devices and there are a few that will not allow me to remote control. They are running remote control version 1.9.0.109.
Is there other variables that can be passed though the KME profile using the Custom JSON Data field that is being used for the enrollment ID to the MobiControl Agent? It would be helpful in my provisioning process to register a WIFI network or set timezones and other things supported by the QR codes or INI file. https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v14.1/en/console/devices/managing/enrolling/platforms/knox/knox_me_link.html
Greetings. I am trying to clone an application on the mobile. I press the option, however, it does not respond. I have checked the control of features and I do not detect anything that prevents it. Did someone have this problem? Thank you.
Hello, can I use a Device Agent settings file for Android devices such as Windows CE devices (MC Setup.ini or pdb.ini)? I want to automate the installation and configuration of the Soti Agent. Thanks!
We have and are rolling out a rather large fleet of TC75(X) Zebra handhelds. They are loaded with some in house software, and locked down through profiles/settings with MobiControl.1: Noticed some weird behavior. I'm configuring and setting up 10 handhelds per batch. The 10mb network internet connection was getting bogged down and while digging deeper found that they were doing google play store updates and reaching 500mb of wifi data usage within an hour of being turned on, configured and connected to wifi. I've resorted to disabling google play store background data, and disabling it. Doesn't seem to interfere with our in house software, and subsequent updates. Trying to find a way to do this through the use of scripts, profiles or blacklisting but can't seem to find anything that will work as expected. Manual configuration does the trick but there are already hundreds of devices in service and more on their way out.Blacklisting through Mobi > Android+ > Profile seems to only control opening/closing the play store app. If anyone else has had success with another technique or has ideas would love to hear it. 2: Mobi > Android+ > Profile >Configuration >Feature Control > Device Messaging. Disable SMS/MMS Text Messaging doesn't work at all. The provider says the sim cards are restricted and can't make or take calls, or text, but I can still text between devices after applying the profile that is supposed to disable this. The device logs show the profile was installed correctly. Any ideas why? Thank you! Trev.
Hi, Is it possible to deploy a kiosk on a device when enrolled using the generic android for work agent? I'm using the Zebra TC77 with agent version 13.6.0 Build 1928. MobiControl version 14.2.3.1069. The error message I'm getting is "Profile version 2 failed to install, because all of its payloads cannot be installed." The only configuration on the profile is the lockdown. Type of profile is Android Enterprise. Thanks Josh.
Hello, Our development team requires using HockeyApp for beta testing of our app. What I need is some script to allow installation from unknown sources, but for this app only. I do not wish to allow installation from unknown sources for them, but I need to allow this one. Does anyone know how to enable that?
Hello- I have a device which is having a tough time getting enrolled into Soti MobiControl. When I create an add device rule, and try to enroll it, I receive an error that says "enrollment failed, this device is not SafetyNet Compliant. Please Contact your System Admin." Any Ideas on why this could be happening?
Good morning everyone, We are currently looking for a solution to automatically forward all incoming text messages (SMS & MMS) messages to email on our Samsung Galaxy S7s (Android Oreo V8.0). I like the options available with SMS Backup & Restore but I see that this will be a manual configuration for all of our 280+ devices because there is no configuration URI available from the developer. Has anyone come across a more configurable deployment option? We are currently using Soti Mobicontrol Version: 14.2.2.1170 as well. Thank you
have a lot of devices that have a profile. all of them now say removal pending is there a way to cancel the removal asap?
Hello! We configured an Application Run Control profile which blacklists applications which contain the string "browser". Bundle Identifier = %browser% Application Name = %browser% The application com.sec.android.app.sbrowser is correctly blocked (disappeared from device screen). But why did the Chrome app also disappear? Chrome Identifier: com.android.chrome Chrome Application Name: Chrome There is no string "browser", which could lead to this behaviour? Any ideas? Thank you!
