Hello, we have certain devices, which does not have a OEM configuration profile available in the SOTI profile. Is there a way to set the hostname of the device via script or any other means? Best, Eduard
Hey there, I've got a problem with a single-app Kiosk Mode profile on Soti MobiControl. I've set up a profile to lock a device down to a single, custom Android app. This app was manually installed via an APK file, not from the Google Play Store. The app has its own built-in self-update feature. However, the Kiosk Mode profile seems to be blocking these updates. The app on the device remains on the original version that was installed and never gets updated, even when it tries to update itself. I need to find a way to allow this self-updating process for the app while the device remains in Kiosk Mode. My question is: What specific configuration or script is needed in Soti MobiControl to allow an internally self-updating APK to function correctly while in a single-app Kiosk Mode profile? I'm looking for a solution that avoids disabling Kiosk Mode or manually updating the APK every time. Any insights or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!
What is the simplest way to setup a PowerBI report on the lockscreen? The report cannot be published to the web The report must be set to open directly through the PowerBI application App must launnchwithout constant login Report must be displayed in the mobile display version within PowerBI This would be for a Samsung Android tablet running latest versions of SOTI and PBI. I have used locked down actions of intent, browser, http, launch, custom, etc as well as the basic template html, but do not hit all four criteria above.
Hello everyone, there is a way to create a phone book in Mobicontrol that is then installed on multiple phones. I don't want to do this with a vfc file, because I have to exchange it again and again with every new contact. It is best if I have an app with which the contacts are then also displayed in the contacts app of the mobile phone. I would then also like to maintain the contacts in this app and use it to synchronise all devices. We are still on Mobicontrol 2024.0 and I would like to set it up for Samsung devices that are Worked Managed. Many thanks in advance Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
Hi all, I'm looking for a javascript that I can run trough the task scheduler to a device that pushes an application to the forefront of the device every 5 minutes when the device is unlocked. (device is Android 14 / Xcover 6 pro Samsung) I have a task scheduler running now with a legacy script that brings the app to the forefront every 5 min (script is: start package.name). The problem with this is, even when the user locks the device, the script will bring the app before the unlockscreen. So i'm looking for a script that says: If PDA locked no push application else if pda unlocked start application every 5 min (bringing the application to the foreground every 5 min) else no push application end Thank you for you help!
Hello, we are using a third-party VPN app on our devices and I would like to enroll it with zero touch, meaning that with the installation of app the VPN profile should be installed on Android automatically, too. I tried to tweak the instructions described here: https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v2025.1/en/scriptcmds/reference/configuring_native_VPN_AE.html?hl=native%2Cvpn But I am not able to find the right configuration. Most important is to set the "always-on VPN" option of the VPN profile. When I open the app, the VPN profile is installed automatically, but the always-on VPN option is disabled. Other MDMs, like MobileIron or ManageEngine do have the option to set this flag for a specific app via profiles. For me it would be OK to use writeprivateprofstring, if no other option is available with MobiControl. As less important, but optimal solution would be to install the VPN profile completely without opening the VPN app. This would mean that the script needs to contain the app-id etc. Any ideas?
Hello everyone, Is there a way to programmatically retrieve the SOTI Device ID from within an Android application running on the same device?
daily job work on copy backup file *.DB from folder to same folder for week according Sysdate and return
If I install an Android application (Owncloud) via SOTI Mobicontrol from the managed Play Store and later try to run it, the app will not be usable—I only receive the following message: 'Blocked by your IT admin.' No additional restrictions have been set (e.g., application run control or feature control...). If I run the same Android app on a managed device without SOTI Mobicontrol, it works fine. Parameters: Device type: Android Enterprise Device family: Android Plus OS version: Android 12 Android status: Provisioned / Enabled with managed Google Play accounts Management type: Work-managed device What can cause the application to run?
Hello all, We work with the onPremise version -> v15.5.1.1010 We have some new device Zebra TC78 under Android 13 (enrolled work managed). Here is it the problem we’re facing actually. We used visual studio 2022 for to create our mobile app Android. But it’s not possible to start the app after deployment by mobicontrol. The app open 1 second and close directly .. If I push the app by visual studio , all work. Well, first, I think it was some code on our app (permission), but after some tests NO ... Because, if I take the template inside visual studio 2022 -> Net Maui Blazor Hybrid App. I’ve just create the project base on the template, nothing change on code, build for to create the apk. Add the apk inside the package manager, and add the result into package inside mobicontrol. Last step, I create a profile work managed, add the package to this profile and push on a TC78. The result is, package is well installed but when I click on the app, the app open and close directly … It’s the first time, we meet this kind of problem .. Anyone have meet this problem ? How i can see what's happen ? thanks a lot
We are converting all of our zebra devices to SOTI from Intune (yay). We have setup a lock screen and authentication. During the install we keep getting requests for the user to allow MobiControl some permissions. Modify System Settings Device & app notifications In order to do this, the user would have to exit the lock screen, which would require the admin password, which sort of defeats the entire purpose of the lock screen. Many of our warehouses do not have any local IT support so we are stuck enrolling devices only when a remote SOTI admin is handy. There is a script command 'afw_set_permission_policy grant' which seems to work. However it is always the last thing to be installed and only after someone has intervened and set the above permissions. Is there a way around this? Can the script be set someone to be the first thing installed, or another way to eliminate these permissions to be required? Thanks.
Currently, we have two messaging applications that will only alert if a message is sent when either in admin mode, application is open, or if we allow the status bar expansion. We don't want to allow the status bar expansion since users could inadvertantly disable wifi or change settings. Is there a way to enable the sound notifications while still locking down the status bar? We are using Zebra TC52 devices with Andriod 8.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
It is possible with active KIOSK Mode that the User can change settings on the Device (without a restriction of MobiControl agent), as the user would be in the "system Preferences" menu. What i can see is the affected Version from the Playstore : 45.2.19-29 [0] [PR] 732221263 With the Version 45.2.19-31 [0] [PR] 732221263 is the option not available. How to reproduce with Playstore Version 45.2.19-29 Open Playstore Tab on the User icon (right top) Go to Settings Expand the menu "General" Tab on "Notification Settings" Tab on "Account" Then you see on the Right top Side the "magnifying glass" Klick on it Then you can search and do many device configuration , when you know for what you need to search. Like wifi changes or other Settings on the Device MC Version 2024.1.2 & 2025.0.2 Device Agent : 2025.0.4.1100 When i go into the Playstore and klick "Update Play Store" it says "Google Play Store is up to Date" , when i enroll a new Devcie it is installing the Version "45.2.19-31" and all is fine. Actually my only idea is to: Install the Playstore update manually on the Devices Reomve the Playstore from the Kiosk Screen Has someone of you faced the same issue, or ideas ?
I have several Zebra devices that were wiped from the device side with the un-enroll from MobiControl. This was during the Proof of Concept. When I try to delete them, I get an error message saying 'Error sending delete action'?. How do I get these out of the system, they are consuming licenses.
Hello everyone, Hope you're having a good day. I'm trying to combine most of our tenant's lockdown templates into a single dynamic one we can use for both horizontal and vertical Android terminals. Of course, I started testing the SOTI dynamic template. However, I ran into some issues. Nearly all our tenants want as much space for apps as possible, so just a background and some device information at the bottom of the screen. I'm not good at all with HTML and the whole template doesn't fit into ChatGPT, so I messed around, but never ended up at the result I want. Currently, I've deleted the header and footer blocks at the top of the template, and adjusted height and padding values until I ended up at something slightly acceptable. Not even close to production-ready though. Especially because its still broken in landscape orientation(see below). I would really appreciate some insight into if this is the right way to accomplish my goal, or if there's a better way to get a clean dynamic template. Thanks in advance, KarelCaptureTech B.V.
