Custom log (Mx OTA failed- trying to update Android 11 Device

Hi,

I've got a Zebra MC3300ax devices with the Version 11-20-18.00-RG-U00-STD-HEL-04 that i am trying to update up to 14-32-12.00-UG-U03-STD-HEL-04   Version,

i have copied the file with File sync to a set location and once it is done i have sent the script (Type Legacy) :

install_system_update /sdcard/update/HE_FULL_UPDATE_14-32-12.00-UG-U03-STD-HEL-04.zip

to which i get the log error

Any idea what could be the cause of this?

i have tried moving the file to diffrent locations and even diffrent update files to slightly lower versions but it always give the same error.

Hi,

Before you update to Android 14, you need to update first to "11-49-09.00-RG-U00-STD-HEL-04" as described on the Zebra Support Page, because of the Touch Panel Firmware. This will only be shipped in this specific update.

To upgrade firmware manually via SOTI, you have to create an .xml config with the StageNow Software provided by Zebra.

When you have created this .xml file, upload it alongside with the firmware file to your device using File Sync.

The proper command would then be:

Legacy mxconfig /path/to/your/xml/Update_to_A11_49.xml

P.S. Make sure to create an .xml for the Wi-Fi Persistence. This way the device will automatically connect to your provided Wi-Fi SSID and rejoin SOTI. Use the same command: mxconfig /...xml

we have tried using the File Sync in Soti to copy the 11-49-09.00-RG-U00-STD-HEL-04 full update but runing the install script 

is giving the same error "Custom log (Mx OTA failed..."

we also tried to just bump the version to a one higher version using the Delta update "HE_DELTA_UPDATE_11-20-18.00-RG-U00-STD_TO_11-20-18.00-RG-U02-STD.zip"

that is also giving the same custom log error.

 

i went on to diffrent Device that has a diffrent version (slightly older version but i cannot recall which exact version), i tried using the full 11-49 update mentioned above with the same method (file sync to upload the file to the device -> using the exact same install script) and it worked without the custom log error!

this leads me to believe that the 11-20-18.00-RG-U00-STD version has issues, is there anything anyone might know about this? if its true is there a way to work around this specific version ?
