allow sideloaded app updates in kiosk mode Solved Locked

Hey there, I've got a problem with a single-app Kiosk Mode profile on Soti MobiControl. I've set up a profile to lock a device down to a single, custom Android app. This app was manually installed via an APK file, not from the Google Play Store. The app has its own built-in self-update feature. However, the Kiosk Mode profile seems to be blocking these updates. The app on the device remains on the original version that was installed and never gets updated, even when it tries to update itself. I need to find a way to allow this self-updating process for the app while the device remains in Kiosk Mode. My question is: What specific configuration or script is needed in Soti MobiControl to allow an internally self-updating APK to function correctly while in a single-app Kiosk Mode profile? I'm looking for a solution that avoids disabling Kiosk Mode or manually updating the APK every time. Any insights or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!

    MobiControl Search Service v2024.0

Hi Everyone, does somebody already have expierience with the new Search Service? I did the upgrade with a customer from MobiControl v15.5 to 2024.0. In the new installer you can select where the Search should be installed. My customer has the Deployment Server in the DMZ and the Management Server in the LAN. Do I have to install Search on both servers? As I did this the "Advanced Search" was not available. Any idea? The new port 5500 is open on both sides. Thank you very much.

    Android Enterprise Agent Update Solved

Hi Everyone, I did an update of MobiControl OnPremise Server. From Version 14.4.9 to 15.6.4 Everything worked as expected and I had no issues. Now I have one question. MY devices Zebra MC3300 with Android 10 still have MobiControl Agent Version 14.5 installed. I can't upgrade the Agent to the latest. Under the global settings I can only manage the plugins and the agent is not shown to me.Can someone explain to me why? The server doesn't have managed google play so this isn't a option for me to update the MC agent. Whenever the support did an update for a cloud server I was able to update the agents afterwards.  Thanks for your help!

How to push updates to VPP apps from MC 15+? Solved

Does anyone know the current procedure to push updates to VPP apps in MobiControl (v15+)? I found another forum post that covers the process for v13/14, but much of the console seems to have changed since then, so the instructions can't be applied to v15.

Android OS updates via SOTI console for Samsung tablets

I am currently running SOTI console 15.4.3.1012 and need to update a number of Samsung devices (SM-T575, SM-T545, SM-A515F and SM-T505N) to the latest build of Android 11. I have the devices configured to automatically download the updates through developer options but I need to find a way to install the downloaded update without having to remote onto each device individually, exit the lockdown kiosk screen and manually install the update. Is there a function within SOTI either a script or profile configuration that would allow me to install the updates in bulk?

Unable to automatically update application from catalog with Managed Google Play Account

Here are the details: Devices are WINMATE M700DM8 Tablets running Android 7.0 Devices are enrolled in Enterprise with Managed Google Play account. They are running a lockdown There is a profile that contains a setting for “Managed Google Play” with “Application Updates” set to “Always Update”. An Android+ Application Catalog contains the application I am interested in. advanced setting for “Application Type” is set to “Mandatory”.  What is happening: From a fresh setup, the application from the catalog does install automatically due to the “Mandatory” flag in the catalog. The app version updated in the Google Play Store but the application is not updating automatically on the tablets. Which should have been fixed by the setting for the Application Update. We have managed to have 1 tablet update automatically in about 24h… this tablet was on the WIFI (which should not change anything because we selected the setting to “always update”) AND the App has been forced to shut down and was not running. (this would not be a suitable prerequisite) SO: I have found these google restrictions: https://support.google.com/googleplay/work/answer/9350374?hl=en but not exactly sure how to work around/with that. The devices are always in kiosk mode and users do not have access to the catalog: is there is a way to let the user update through the catalog within the lockdown? Controlling if the app is running or not is pretty hard and the app will most likely always be running. How should we proceed to force the update? Is there a script command we can send to force the installation of the app from the catalog? I have tried :    install %temp%[app.apk]install %tmp%[app.apk]install /sdcard/[app.apk] Thank you for the help!

Problems when updating from 15.0.2.1049 to 15.1.2.1035 Solved Locked

Hi, I have trouble upgrading (versions in the subject line) mobicontrol. When I start the setup file, I am only greeted with an empty error box that I can only confirm with ok and the setup is aborted. Because of the error being completly blank, I do not have any clue on what the error might be related to. What I have tried so far (always with the same, non-working result): Executed Setup as .exe Switched system language from German to US English (I thougt, maybe there was no translation for the error) Manually stop all related mobicontrol services, tasks, etc. ... before executing the setup file Rebooted the system   The system in question is running Windows 10 with all the latest updates installed. Any help or clue is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Greg Edit: I have not had any problems updating mobicontrol in the past.
