Hi, I'm currently creating some new 'Add devices rules'. The device which is going to be used here is a device that currently don't have a device agent on server, but is on the https://docs.soti.net/mobicontrolagentdownloads/. How could new agents from this list be added to the server? I want that there should be as few manual steps as possible, and therefore don't want that the user should be needed to manually install the .apk themself. The current version of MobiControl used is: 14.2.2.1170 For me it seems like there was an possibility in v11 (through: https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v11/en/Content/Manager/AgentMgr.htm), and also now a possibility in 14.3(through: https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v14.3/en/console/devices/managing/enrolling/update_device_agent_android.html). In 14.3 we got some problems with some other things, so we don't have the possibility to update the server right now. Thanks in advance! Br. Anders Kvisvik FARA
Hi everybody, some of our devices (equipped with an Exchange Active Sync profile) do not have an Exchange ID stored in the MobiControl database (table dbo.ExchangeDevice). The affected devices are not able to connect to Exchange through ERG servers (because SOTI doesn't find the Exchange ID in its DB). Most of our other devices don't have this problem. The devices are SAMSUNG Galaxy S smartphones (A40, Fold, A8, ...) and they are enrolled over LDAP authentication. Why is the Exchange ID DB entry missing for some devices?
Hello, I can't activate the accelerated location option (Qualcomm IZAT) by sending a script to Android+ devices : By sending a watchsettings ON to the device, I get the following logs when I manually enable / disable the option : 2020-01-1005:38:13 PMCustom log (URI:content://settings/secure SETTING:enhLocationServices_on VALUE:1) Information2020-01-1005:37:18 PMCustom log (URI:content://settings/secure SETTING:enhLocationServices_on VALUE:0) Information2020-01-1005:36:22 PMCustom log (URI:content://settings/secure SETTING:enhLocationServices_on VALUE:1) But by sending the following script to the device : writesecuresetting -sec enhLocationServices_on 1 The Accelerated location does not activate. I'm on a 13.3.0.3851 version of MC (agent 13.3.3.1010) (Note : I have the same issue on a 14.3.3.1111 version of MC with AE DO but this specific case is currently under investigation by the SOTI support.) Many thanks !
Hi guys, We will use Zebra devices with Android 8 Enterprise in "Work Managed Device" mode in the near future. Some test devices are already successfully staged into our Soti MobiControl environment. PlugIn for Remote Control is also pushed on the new devices with a profile so remote control is working fine. I have a short question now. While remote controlling Android 7 devices I had access to the /enterprise parition of the devices (and much more, see second screenshot down below). Now with Android 8 and Work Managed device, I'm only able to see /sdcard in the remote control (see first screenshot) Also tested this on a Panasonic device (Work Managed device too), same here. Only /sdcard is visible. Tried it with web based remote control and legacy. Is there a way to get access to the /enterprise folder of the devices again or is this a Android 8 Work Managed Device feature? On Android 7 devices it looks like this: Do you have any suggestions, would much appreciate it. Thank you and have a nice weekend. Stefan
Hi All, Is there a way to stop a user using the recent button so they cannot get out of the application and the same for when the user tries to split the screen?
Hi all, I am relatively new to SOTI and am currently adding up to 2500 Samsung A50e devices to my estate. We have a mix of voice/data connections with some voice connections only being required to make and receive calls. At the moment voicemail is activated on all devices. I'd like to create a script that I can deploy to specific profiles to disable voicemail but have no idea where to start. Can any of you help? Thanks James IT EUC Manager Travelodge
Hi, I am running into an issue regarding downloading files/pdfs from our Sharepoint environment. When i press on the pdf, i get a message saying "Downloading..." which then changes to "Download Failed" Under my profile that is assigned to the device i have configured the download location and have not disabled downloading of files The Soti Surf build i am using is 15.0.0.1. Any insight on this would be great as this for critical usage edit: Downloading works from within Chrome
I have been driving myself crazy trying to find the root cause of this. The MobiControl agent on our TC8000 scanners are constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. The worst part of it is that eventually it will cause the scanners to completely lock up and they have to be force rebooted. The workaround right now is to disable the MobiControl agent on the scanners (force close the app) which will prevent them from locking up, but obviously the downside is that I can't remotely manage them while the agent isn't running. I have tried disabling Doze mode, disabling Bluetooth, GPS, etc. and nothing seems to work. I even went as far as reinstalling SOTI and completely rebuilding the SOTI database as I thought maybe the database got corrupted somehow, but it didn't change anything. Our wireless network in the building is rock solid so I know that is not what is causing the agent to crash. Does anyone have any other ideas that I can try? As you can see from the logs of this particular scanner it was constantly disconnecting (all day) until finally at 4:46 PM the scanner froze and I had to force a reboot. This happens a lot on scanners that are connected to SOTI.
Is it possible to turn on Android NFC via a SOTI script or through the shell on a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active? We have allowed the functionality on the profiles feature control Thanks
Hi, I've been trying to lockdown a TC57 Zebra scanner to just launch chrome without displaying a URL bar. The issue is i cannot use Soti Surf as the website we are accesssing only supports Google Chrome. IS there any way to achieve this?
I am trying to enable permission for "Allow display over other apps" using the below script. afw_set_permission_grant_state com.google.android.youtube android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW allow My handset (an Ascom Myco 3) is enrolled as a Work Managed Device. The handset has Android 9 OS. The command does nothing at all. The permission on the handset is disabled by default and has to be enabled remotly only. I tried this for other apps as well, and the result is the same. Can you help me resolve this issue. Thanks
Is there a way to update the OS on a device? I have pushed the OS over in a .zip file but I can't find a way to initiate the installation of the new OS. This device is in Android Enterprise mode and isn't a Zebra device.
Hello, We have a Lock Down created, and one of the items we allow access to is Notifications. In the lock down profile we use the text: action://net.soti.mobicontrol.VIEW_NOTIFICATIONS. This previously allowed users to view the notifications on the device, as though we had a notification 'app'. However we recently have upgraded our devices, they are now Samsung Galaxy A50 devices using Android 9 (we were using a much lower android version). Currently if a notification is received, they present at the top of the screen an in the drop down bar, the notification icon within the lock down also present a red circle with the number of notifications received. However when the user selects the notification icon - the notifications do not present. Instead a screen just reads: "Currently using Native Notifications (recommended for Android P+). I have tried a couple other lines of text including: Launch://net.soti.mobicontrol.VIEW_NOTIFICATIONS Launch://com.android.settings/.Settings$NotificationStationActivity Action://com.android.settings/.Settings$NotificationStationActivity Is there anything else I can try to allow the user to see the Notifications when they enter 'app'? I have attached some photos to try and show the problem I am having. Thanks, Natalie
Dear Team, I would to deactivate a programmable button of 150 device with a script. On Crosscall the "WatchSettings ON" is not supported, therefore I can't record the proper script option to set. Is anyone knows how to do that ? Thanks, Victor
Hello I've done a bit of searching on the forums, but haven't been able to find an answer to my question. Forgive me if this has been asked before. We manage a large number of Zebra TC51 devices for one of our clients. These devices are frequently assigned a new device name from the MobiControl WebConsole. We have had situations in the past where we would need to retrieve the previous device name after a new name has already been assigned. Is it possible to retrieve the previous device name from a device? Any help you could provide would be appreciated.
