    Zebra Printer - Sending raw ZPL from SOTI/PAS

    It doesn't look like it's possible outside of building a package to deliver a .zpl file containing zpl code to a Zebra printer but I am wondering if it has been mentioned to possibly add the capability of sending raw ZPL, almost like sending a script to Android+, to ZPL enabled printers versus the native config profiles and packages. It appears the native printer config profile options are doing this anyway being that there is no agent installed on printers.

    Soti Surf Tab

    We will soon be accessing our AS400 via the web.  Right now I have Soti Surf set up to point to the URL and it works fine.  The problem I have is if they need to open a 2nd instance of this website.  I tried making 2 different icons point the same URL in the catalog.  If I do this and am signed into the first one, the second I hit the back button (or home in the browser), it signs me out of the 1st one.  I need to remain signed in while I access the 2nd URL. I also tried creating 2 different instances of Soti Surf on my Lockdown page.  If I log into the first one and click Home (android) and access the 2nd one, it doesn't give me another instance.  It shows me the same page I am logged into from the 1st one. It would be nice if I could be logged into it and then have a 2nd tab that I could also log into the same URL. Any suggestions?  Thank you

    Deferred Profile assignment?

    I have a question and a suggestion for the Soti "feature request" folks. Is anyone trying to manage apk updates that will not conflict with a running app?  If so, how are you doing it?  We have a couple of applications that it is paramount that we not update if the app is running.  The normal android app store knows how to do this, ie, not update an apk if it is being used.  Our devices are all COSU and are kiosk locked so there is no "self serve" option.  The profile model is maddening.  It has TONS of options to cover the "IF" a profile should apply but precious few to cover the "WHEN" it should be applied.  It has Network Connectivity, specific time, and battery level.  I need to be able to check if a specific app is running and if so, defer the assignment until the next check-in.  I could even work with "charging/not charging" as a proxy for app use but that isn't an option either.  Coupled with the fact that the Android script engine has no conditional processing I am unable to figure out a way to meet this very reasonable customer demand.  At this point it appears we will have to erect a secondary server infrastructure and a device side agent to call the MC API to assign profiles on demand, which is exasperating since that is basically what we purchases MobiControl to do. Anyone see something obvious I'm missing?

    Device Client Support screen Solved

    Hi I want to set up support details for our Service Desk on the Support screen in the MobiControl agent. We did it years ago when we hosted version 9 on Windows CE devices (those were the days), but now on cloud hosted v14.1 I cannot find a setting to do this. Hopefully it's me missing the blindingly obvious. Eddie

    SOTI HUB - ERG?

    Hi We are currently looking into getting SOTI Hub deploy as we would need some .dox and .pdf files deployed to some Android phones. I have been reading that you would either use webdav or sharepoint 2013 for deploying content. Regarding sharepoint 2013 i have some questions. 1.Would we need to deploy ERG? 2.Can it be installed on the same server as mobicontrol ? We would just need our content to be deployed without any auth from the end-users to the devices as some if them is in lockdown mode. 3. Webdav - Can this be installed on the same server? and do we need ERG for this?

    Mobicontrol upgrading from 13.3.0.3851 to 13.4.0.5074

    After the upgrading, on a new enrollment, we have the following warning : Invalid device software version, Device is not allowed to upgrade. The FileSync doesnt start. Since we have a hundred of devices (windows mobile devices MC55, MC67), we would like to make a change in the database in order to tell the MobiControl server to accept the agent version which is actually on the devices. It would be a burden to change manually the agent version on the devices. We are using MobiControl Staging embedded on the devices : one barcode read and everything is deployed on the PDA via FileSync. More is done via a script in this MobiControl staging sequence so we can't enroll, upgrade the agent via the console then FileSync. Thanks for your support on that question, Lionel

    Set app permission for Samsung Galaxy S5

    Hi everybody, is it possible to grant permissions to access the device storage for an app which was not installed by SOTI Mobi Control? By default the app does not have any permissions. Setting the permissions via the device settings is not an option for us. Are there any solutions with "writesecuresettings" or anything else? Watchsettings did not produce a log entry. Simon

    Edit a previously created Geo-Fence

    Hi All, I've hunted through SOTI and a bit of googling and have come up blank. How can I edit a geo-fence? Due to the nature of one of my sites, I need to increase the size of the geo-fence associated with this site. Can I just adjust the geo-fence? From what I can see I need to create another one, remove all links to the old one, and reassign to the new one.  Luckily it isn't used in many profiles/rules but seems like there should be an easier way.     Samsung Tab E - Montior device temperature?

    I notice when connecting to remote control our Android devices, the battery temperature is noted.  I am wondering if there is a script or custom data method to record the device temperature at a regular basis? We have some devices in the field that are possibly overheating so we would love to track the progress of this. Thanks

    Configurations tab reporting successful install incorrectly

    I have noticed on multiple devices that the configurations tab on some phones is incorrect. It states that apps are installed on a specific version (that we recently pushed out) but then in the application list it states the old version is still installed. I have verified that the applications list is always correct while the configurations tab is the only one with issues. When this happens no matter if a new version is pushed that old version will always stay installed and the new one will always list as installed. This happens with multiple apps on multiple version on multiple different client versions. This does not occur on all our phones only a small sub-set which is less than 40% of the total I have tried updating the client app on the phones to the latest version with no luck. I have tried performing a check in with no luck as well. The only way to get it to update the apps is to manually install the apks on each phone which is very time consuming.  I am hoping there is a simple fix to this that I can push out to keep me from having to manually update a dozen apps on over 100 phones. EDIT:  It is a 14.x instance. The apps do not update at all but report as updated. Phone with app X at version 500  profile applied to that phone with app X at version 600 App X reports as version 600 in the configuration tab while on the phone and in the application tab it reports as version 500. any new profiles with an update to that app will instantly report as "installed" without installing on the phone this is leaving many phones that connect regularly with apps that are several versions behind. I attempted to do a manual sync like you listed below with no change (our integrity is below 100% but I do not know if that is related to this issue) Refreshing the device and manual check-ins do not change this I will reach out to soti and see if there is an update I can install as you suggested below.

    MobiControl Cloud instances are fixed and inelastic? Solved

    I have recently received a request from SOTI support asking me to delete old packages off of a MobiControl cloud instance because it is apparently out of storage space. I feel like this is a completely unprofessional ask given the expectation for a cloud service to be more flexible and scalable based on usage. It would appear that the instance was manually audited to determine there were subjectively "old" packages in the first place which also feels somewhat invasive. What if there weren't old package versions and we legitimately needed to use that space in the instance? I would like a more clear message around this as otherwise I don't believe I can continue to recommend the cloud offering.

    Password Policy not matching between Device and Server

    Hey Guys, we want to set up a Pin-Code to unlock all of our Devices (Zebra TC20 + TC51). Here's the Serverside config: As you can see, we only want a Pin without alphabetic characters. Unfortunately our Endpoints showing up this (wants min. one alphabetic character): Also other options like pattern wants a password with numeric an alphabetic characters. How can we set up only a PIN on our devices? Any suggestions? Why seems MC not allow any other options than password? Thank you!
