Strange behaviour when starting remote control on Zebra TC58

When starting the remote control on ZEBRA TC58, only 1/4 of the screen is displayed. Mostly it is the top left corner. Does anyone have a solution for this or know why this is occuring?

I know a workaround for this, but i was wondering if anyone could help me fix this.

I guess the screen is just zoomed, so try following to verify:

close the shown app, refresh the webpage (or disconnect rC and reconnect).

If it's the zoom issue, the screen shows normal afterwards. you also can start the app now again while RC is already active without any issue.
I also guess your device is on Android 14 (if this issue is shown).

Yes it looks like it is zoomed in. The device runs on Android 14, correct.

Is it possible to "fix" the issue permanently? Or are there only workarounds?

The only "solution" we know about is to update the device (if available) to Android 15.
We have also a case running on Soti Support (C00810054 if you need the reference) but they are not very likely to investigate further as it's solved with Android 15 and only appears on some apps (for whatever reason).

So, maybe you should reach out to support with this reference if upgrading to Android 15 is no option for you so they maybe have another trigger to investigate further as they see it as an firmware issue only.

Remote Control on Zebra Android devices has gotten progressively worse over time ever since Zebra stopped signing the plugin and the RC method was changed up. I still see regular issues with disruptive Remote Control (lockdown forced into the foreground when initiating) and this zoom issue happening as well. It is really unfortunate because SOTI has historically been the gold standard for Zebra devices and Remote Control is also one of the core value propositions and yet we've ended up in a situation where Remote Control on Zebra devices specifically in SOTI is now the worst that it has ever been.

Just to be sure: I see this issue also on non Zebra devices, means this is most likely an Android based issue, not a manufacturer specific one.

Our issue regarding this Zoom issue, seem to be solved with latest agent (2025.1.1), maybe worth checking it from your end as well (as we don't use Zebra devices on this Android version to check).
