Zebra ET40 Remote Control Lock Screen

Hello! I have a new Zebra ET40 tablet I am testing at one of my sites. The device is running Android 11 (11-10-31.00-RG-U00-STD-GSE-04) and my Mobicontrol is version 15.4.2. 

When I remote control to the device it simply shows a black screen with a lock and the time. I cannot see the keypad to enter the pin number. I did discover that if I just click anywhere on the screen, I can type the pin with my keyboard and login that way, however I'm just wondering why I can't see the keypad.

Showing just a lock icon and time can be an intentional security related design for this device model or firmware.

As you can  just click anywhere on the screen and type the PIN with your keyboard and log in,  I don't see any  real problem, to be frank..  Just share this information with other MobiControl administrators and the problem is basically solved.

Like you said, it's not necessarily an issue. I guess I was just more curious as to why it was happening and if I was able to change it. If it's a security feature I'm ok with that. I just haven't seen it on any of my other devices.

That's because that's the lockscreen.

The keypad should only pop up after you (for example) swipe up and get a field to enter pin/password. If you click in that field you should get the keypad visible also in remote control.

How does the device act regarding that without remote control, when you just use the device in front of you?

Hi Rafael,

That's the odd part here. The device does not show this screen, it actually shows the default background and a keypad. Do not need to swipe up or down to access it.

The attached picture only happens when using the remote control function. Unfortunately, swiping up or down (with the mouse) does nothing. The only input it seems to accept is letting me blindly type the passcode.

Then this seem to be a problem with remote control somehow and maybe needs a look from Soti themselve. Maybe there'S an issue with the Zebra Plugin specific to this model but i can't put in any specific and real helpful information. Only to open a support case to Soti.
