In response to your personal message requesting me to help, I post this in the hope that you can clarify your situation and narrow down the approach to move forward.

When you said you can do the task manually,  can you elaborate the steps you took and the criteria for determining if the task is done successfully or not.

Is keeping app data and cache for subsequent installing of newer version of the same app at a later time?  If so, you should actually focus on the right way to deploy the app in the first place and correct procedure to do "in-place" app upgrade.

My questions are different from yours, both in terms of the wording and the depth/preciseness.    I just don't want to emphasize again that Ruwan sent me a personal post to request an answer from me.   So, there is no point for you to post anything here to comment on what I have to say or ask.  Freedom of speech and expression should be respected here.   Just see if Ruwan will provide any answer in either or both of the discussion threads that he created.
