Lockscreen Message and default Keyboard

Hello dear Soti Team,

We are currently still optimising our installations for the Honeywell CT60 with Android Enterprise.

We have two things that we currently have to do manually on each device and I wanted to ask if we could somehow automate them.

The users don't like the standard Honeywell Enhanced Keyboard very much and prefer to use the Gboard keyboard, it's not clear why.
We therefore have to deactivate the Honeywell keyboard in the settings on the device which will enable the Gboard
Can we automate this?

And probably the harder part:
We have created a custom attribute in Mobicontrol.
There we maintain the so-called ME number, which is a number that is needed for registration within a software.
At the same time, it is part of the PIN code of the device.
To not confuse the users, we will display this number as a lockscreen message on the device.
Each device has its own number, which we maintain both on the device and in the web console.

Is there a possibility that we only have to maintain the web console and the device gets the information from the custon attribute and somehow inserts it into the lockscreen message?

Thanks a lot and have a nice weekend

In the future something like this should be two separate posts since it is technically two separate problems with different potential solutions. I will still however attempt to answer both for you

Gboard

In terms of disabling the enterprise keyboard and switching to Gboard I would recommend you investigate this ask a little further. Gboard has a link to Google search directly within the keyboard that can allow the users to search the web and potentially launch into other websites. This is a security and productivity issue to leave enabled on line-of-business devices and we therefore always disable Gboard in our deployments. It's possible that the end users like and prefer the Gboard because they can use it to access Youtube or other websites so I would verify first if they have a legitimate business use case for that particular keyboard before pursuing any configuration changes to enable it.

 Custom Lock Screen Text

You can use the following script to set a custom Lock Screen message. Variable Macros like %DEVICENAME% are supported. I have not tried Custom Data but it may potentially work as well. The format for that would be %MCCustomData:YOURPROPERTY% or %CustomAttr:YOURPROPERTY%

writeprivateprofstring LockScreenString Message %DEVICENAME%

apply LockScreenString

Hi,
OK, I can understand that, I'll open two threads next time.
About the Gboard: That's right, I have set a web filter for google chrome to *, but you still have many options for surfing the internet with the Gboard. I will discuss this again with my colleagues.

On the subject of lock screen text:
Many, many thanks!
It worked with this variant:
writeprivateprofstring LockScreenString Message %CustomAttr:"LVS Nr."%
apply LockScreenString

Best regards
