Managed Google Play configuration pending install

MobiControl v15.2.5.1027, Zebra TC52x A10 -- new configuration to avoid application updates from Google Play Store.  Profile details state all devices are pending installation, even after one week of reboots, and hard resets.  Please advise.  Thanks, all.

Hi Matt,

It looks like your device agents are relatively outdated (15.1.2) which could potentially explain why this Profile is stuck in a Pending status not installing. You could experiment with a newer agent version to see if the payload installs correctly.

Also it's worth also calling out that I don't think even when installed this configuration is going to achieve what you're hoping it will do. That Managed Play payload will have little effect in restricting Google Play updates from occurring in the background. If you want to restrict specific apps from upgrading from Play I would recommend you investigate the MX based methods instead as they are more effective.

For the profile stuck in "pending install" state, please check if it is specific to this particular profile or to any old/new profile. Or  whether it is problematic for one specific device model, firmware version or device agent version.   

Regarding the task you want to achieve with this problematic  profile deployment,  there can be alternative way for your Zebra devices.   According to a technical note I took quite some time ago, for Zebra devices running Android 8+ and MX v10.3+, you can disable app upgrade on a per-app basis with script command  if your device agent version is v15.1.5 or later.  However, I currently don't have any Zebra device on hand to do any quick tests to confirm this.

Good Morning Matt, 

Do you have the latest MobiControl Agent on your devices? 2024.1.5? 
I have several customers which have the same issue. 
One of my customers with 1500 devices started to enroll them into MobiControl. Every device stucks on "pending install". 
In my case MobiCOntrol Version 2024.1.0 

I don't know what happen at the moment with MobiControl. 

We already created several support cases but their Support don't have any idea how to fix that.

Agent upgrade on two test devices has not helped the new portion of the profile to install. 

I have the script to run on the devices to avoid the app in question upgrading from Google Play, and it works fine.  We just have to run it multiple times as devices leave and come back from repair.
