Permanently activate IZat

I was investigating why it is not possible to locate our Zebra MC33 devices and I opened the location settings on the device when the following message appears:

As soon as I click agree on this message I'm able to locate the devices with the MobiControl console.

It seems that it is not possible to disagree to this (the message just reappears) and the message must be accepted each time the device is started or the location is switched on.

Does someone know if and how it's possible to permanently agree to this consent so that we can locate our devices?

Hi Chris,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Central.

Could you please confirm the following:

  • Method of device enrollment
  • MobiControl agent version
  • MobiControl server version

Thank you,

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your response.

As it is Work Managed, have you tried using a Feature Control to try and force location availability on the device? Feature Control (Android Enterprise Work Managed)

Create new Profile -> Work Managed -> Add a Configuration -> Feature Control -> 'Location Accuracy' -> 'High Accuracy'.

Kind regards,

Looks like it does activate the location services but does not accept the message:

Hi Chris,

That's great, it looks like we are one step closer. Now we need to bypass this prompt message, for this I have a few suggestions:

  • Try using a sendIntent command to accept the dialogue box. Here are some useful links to get you started, you may need some help from the OEM/Qualcomm to find the correct syntax, though
  • Experiment with writesecuresetting script to enable the IZat setting, below link explains the process
  • If the above don't work, open a case with SOTI Support (support@soti.net), as this could be a Feature Request; since many devices would likely be affected by this perhaps there is an option we can add in the Add Device Rule advanced options to allow IZat Location

Kind regards,

Hi,

writesecuresetting is not supported on Android Enterprise if I'm correct?

Hi Chris,

Following up on this thread, writesecuresettings do support on Andriod Enterprsie. However, you need to enroll the device as Andriod plus to identify settings because Watchsettings as mentioned in writesecuresetting script (soti.net) do not work on AE.

If the above do not work, Please open a case with SOTI Support (support@soti.net), as this could be a Feature Request; since many devices would likely be affected by this perhaps there is an option we can add in the Add Device Rule advanced options to allow IZat Location
