After I updated the devices, users are reporting an error with "Google play services stopped."
Do you have any advice on how to either update / deactivate the service.?
I dont use a google account on device i Play, only APK files in profiles or Policy with google play apps installed.
I aim for "no error on screen", so If I need to cancel using policies with Google play apps, in order to deactivate a service, then I can find the APK files for the few programs I need.
There is a Google Play Services bug affecting fully managed devices that sounds similar to the problem you're experiencing. Here is the announcement with more detail on how to investigate and workaround.
Test device1: I tried to do a "wipeapplication com.google.android.gms" on the google play services.
Then the error disappeared.
Test device 2: Tried to update Google Play Store app to version 40.x and then the error also disappeared.
Prod device 1-10: Profile with package "google play store" to affected devices and they all confirmed, that problem disappeared.
