Server Policies restrict use of Wi-Fi profiles not meeting required security level

Hi all.

We are running varios Android version on Zebra MC9290 and TC70.

We keep getting a pop up on the bottom of the lockdown screen saying, "Server Policies restrict use of Wi-Fi profiles not meeting required security level."  Also, this pop up shows about 3-4 times.  If a user is in an app, it kicks them back to the lockdown screen evertime the pop up shows up.

Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix this?

Check if you have set something wrong for the item "Enforce Minimum WiFi Security Level" in the Feature Control payload.

Thank you Raymond!

Looks like we had a setting mismatch with the Enforce Minimum WiFi Security Level".  We changed the setting and that message no longer appears.

I have the same issue, the thing is under Feature Control, Enforce Minimum wifi security, the option to select WPA2 does not exist.

Your closest option is to choose "WPA" in your feature-control configuration payload.

Hello Jon,

Thank you for requesting an answer fro SOTI Support Staff.

What version of MobiControl are you using?  Have you tried to use WPA as per the suggestion provided?

I'm using Soti 14.2

Our wifi uses WPA2, however, the closest match under Feature Control is WPA, which is what I have selected, however, I keep on getting the popup message when moving devices between groups. I have also noticed that the wifi adapter in many of my devices disables itself after this popup message, then sometimes re-enables itself after a while (but only sometimes). This happens on Motorola MC9190G & MC92N0 WM6.5 and Zebra TC51, MC33 Android 7.12

I just don't understand why SOTI do not allow for the option of WPA2 under Feature Control. Makes no sense.

How can I get around these issues?

Yeah, WPA2 has only been mandatory for WiFi products since 2013 so you'd think that Soti would get around to adding that.  However...

Based on the devices you are using, I'm guessing these are all locked/kiosk type devices.  If so, I suspect that you push a particular profile and don't allow users to create any wifi profiles anyway.  If true, I would just remove that feature control item for now.  If users can't change any wifi settings then it's redundant anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion Scott, good point you make.

Still odd the SOTI do not include WPA2 in the list of options.

@SOTI guys, maybe a suggestion to add it for the next release.
