MC v15.4 - 0% Finalizing Your Upgrade!

Hello there,

well i saw the release of MC 15.4 and wanted to check/test it on my development environment.

So i upgraded from the latest 15.3 (15.3.3 - 1065) to the latest 15.4 (15.4 - 4737).

  • configured openjdk
  • run the installer

On my first try i wasn't able to get my DS back running. It failed always trying to start the service for
the deployment server.

After restoring my snapshot i tried to install it again. Did the same steps. Now the DS was able to start.
I was able to easily access the webconsole and everything seemed to work. Then i noticed the notification on
the webconsole that my search services stopped working. So i checked in the admin tool the search service.
The admin tool is saying that all my services are OK. I restarted all my services and the server just in case.
The admin tool is still showing me that the search service is still fine.

So then i thought the config files of the search services are corrupted. So i went to the SOTI folder to rename
the the search folder to search_old and run the installer again to make sure that he configures the search service
new. That step helped me a lot to fix the search service on many servers.

Now i have the problem that i can not login into my webconsole. After the login it gets stuck at an indexing process.

Any idea how to fix that problem? Or should i restore my snapshot and try to install 15.4 again?

EDIT: Tried to uninstall MC 15.4 and reinstall it again. Same result...

Although i havent upgraded to 15.4 already, in the past releases the installer was somewhat "unreliable".

All my last updates i did went the following way:

- Deinstall the current mobicontrol version

- Install the new version and update the db -> now DS Service gets somehow corrupted

- Deinstall the new version

- Reinstall the new version -> everything works now

I will try to test 15.4 today..

yes i had the same experience with updates like you.

And thanks for checking the 15.4 update on your side.

I am curious if you get the same result or a complete different one.

I updated our test environment as follows:

- Deinstalled the current mobicontrol version

- Installed the new version and updated the db

This time the update was succesful in the first try (using 15.4 - 4737 Installer)

Hi John,

thank you for your feedback.

May i ask from what version you upgraded your test environment to 15.4?

And what was the first version you installed on your test environment?

My test environment started with a early version of 15.2.4 and got updated later:

15.2.4 -> 15.3.0 -> 15.3.3 -> 15.4.0

I updated from 15.3.1, as for the update path i can say that much that we updated from time to time since Version 13.4 .

Well i will try it one more time. When i get the same result i will try to ask a MC technician.
