Honeywell Service agreement

Hi,

Can someone please explain the Honeywell contract model to me?
We have a number of Honeywell CT60 and CT60XP devices.
The CT60s are almost all still on Android 9 and I would like to update them to Android 11/12.

The download page says that you need a contract to get the download.

However, if I click on the Android 11 folder, for example, I can access the download without entering the contract.

At the same time, the Honeywell site ( https://sps.honeywell.com/us/en/support/blog/productivity/why-you-should-keep-ruggedized-android-devices-os-updated) says that updates are free.

Here (https://support.honeywellaidc.com/s/article/How-to-access-Android-10-kernel-files-on-the), on the other hand, it says that you need a contract.

Our units do not have this contract and are already 2-3 years old.

Can I update them or not?
Our dealer said that you have to sign an extra contract for just the Android software. But in the end, none of his customers are doing this because Honeywell can't control it.

How are you dealing with this?
Our central IT seems to want to buy 200 additional licences to be able to officially download the software.

Cheers

Totally agreed with Matt.

It's so obvious that license related issue should be queried and resolved with the owner of the licensed software.

Hi Maik,

starting with Android 10 you need to have a Service Contract with Honeywell.

Then you are "offical" allowed to use the Upgrades & Updates what you can find on https://hsmftp.honeywell.com/en

That Service is called "Sentinel Extended Service" or  bit other.

It depends when you have booked the Gold Service it is may included.

Or in the Platinum Serivce it is included for the 5 or 3 Years.

You can Download the Software without the Contract but then you have to be very Carfully - when you self break your Device.

Hi Marcus,

thanks for the information.

Most of our devices are with android 9 so we need to get the contract for each of our devices to get them to android 10/11/12?

Or am I allowed to download and install the updates without the contract when i´m totally fine with the risk of breaking a device? So far the updates went all fine and this would save us a lot of reaccuring costs.

Hi Maik,

what i know is only the Contract for the Android Service not so expensiv.

When you have Zebra Devices is it not possible to Download Updates without a Service contract ;)

Also i would recommand to be so fair to Buy the Service, we all like to get payed for what we work :)
