How to set individual static IP address for winCE devices (MC92X)

My customer uses an Wifi environment, where each devices is identified by a static address. We now need to bring in around 50 new devices an need to set an individual static ip therefore.

I pushed a fusion profile to each device, but how can I individually set the static IP?

I do not hope that a need to create 50 separate profiles for this?

Thanks for any hint on that

Hi,

I haven't tried any of it yet in SOTI but:

1. most elegant would be "staging" wifi with DHCP and distribute static IP config afterwards

2. MobiControl Stage option "Static IP" set to "User defined" (this one should be simple if it's working)

3. maybe some kind of MobiControl script? (not sure about this ATM but if it's possible than it could be used with modification for both options mentioned earlier)

If they insist on utilizing Static IPs then I would build them a staging process that they can own that involves them manually inputting the IPs themselves.

Hello Thomas,

Did you get a chance to test the solution provided by Mike?

Just wanted to check if the provided solution worked or not so that if required, we can look for an alternate option.

Hi Armod

I tested step 1 and 2 but I couldn't find a script to solve the dynamic setting of around 100 devices.

Can you provide me a script sample?

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for requesting a response from SOTI Support Staff.

We tried testing the solution provided by Mike in the post above and we were not able to assign static IPs to multiple devices.

We were unable to find a script which assigns static IPs hence we tried achieving the same through MobiControl Stage programmer and were not able to do so.

Looks like only option is to individually assign IPs to all of the devices.

Hope this helps.

Thank you,

You could do this with Fusion exports.

The only thing is you would have to create a package for each device but it would work.

Build a package to send an export to the application folder that has the ip's in it and coldboot the device.

On the coldboot the export gets read and imported.
