The question is more like: Why it shouldn't be supported?

I think as long you use Named manufacturers you can be relative sure that that they will be supported and even if not, just a request to the Soti support would be possible to et it supported maybe.

Hi Christophe,

You are not newbie here.   Why ask such silly question.  Different people have different meaning when talking about if a device is SUPPORTED or not.  Only you know exactly your requirements (enrollment mode, MDM policies and roadmap, required minimum Android firmware version, ...,  etc.)  in your use case.  If a device is said to be supported and can get successfully enrolled, but the the criticial MDM features you need somehow fail, then is the device considered supported or not supported?  I would say it is the latter.

Thus, don't trust any so-called supported device list even if any exists, and don't trust any irresponsible comment posted in the forum.  After all, you or your company pay for the hardware (Zebra TC77) if new devices are to be bought, and for the MobiControl license if new device licenses need to be added. Also, no outsider should dare representing Soti or any hardware vendor to say what device is supported or should be supported.   Is he/she going to pay for all the costs incurred to support a device he/she comments on?  Big company may have undisclosed product roadmap and marketing strategies which outsiders don't know nor understand.

Trust yourself by borrowing a test device of the model of interest and do thorugh tests on critical feature(s) that you need on your MobiControl v14.3.x server.  If any such tests fail, find solution such as  following up with Soti support on possible workaround, following up with hardware vendor on any forthcoming firmware patch, considering the feasibility of upgrading your MobiControl server, etc.  If no solution can be found,  proactively find a different device model.  If certain features fail for the device but your use case never need such policies, then the failed test result can be considered insignificant.

I always advise my corporate/governmental customers to do the above tests before considering making purchase order on new devices.  However, if your company already owns the devices, and want to get them enrolled and deployed with MobiControl MDM, then you might need to make balance and compromise in terms of device enrollment mode, device agent and server version/build to be used, MDM policies to be deployed, etc.   The task is likely both an art and science, with the target of maximizing possiblity of utilizing the hardware at minimum extra cost and time effort.

Good luck on your journey with Zebra TC77 or any replacement device model that makes sense in your case.

Well said Raymond!

It's more about whether you can do everything you need to do relative to configuring and managing the devices throughout their extended lifecycle. Testing and understanding what works and doesn't work is truly the best way to understand what functionality is supported or not. For example, on paper SOTI and other EMMs on the market may all list "support" for Zebra Android devices, but you'll find that the actual capabilities between the different options vary WILDLY and much of that is not apparent until after customer make the wrong purchasing decision and end up with the wrong solution. Research thoroughly and test.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your support and comments.

I notice that there are occasionally some irresponsible comments that spread wrong or misleading information.  I've always said I support freedom of speech, but it is not without limit.  I don't know what so many of the paid Soti moderators are doing here.  They should correct some posts which spread wrong information that can potentially cause money loss to Soti's customers.   They are supposed to be experts in different facets of Soti products, providing good advices and valuable information to forum audience, and also regulate disinformation or misinformation.  They are not supposed to only say some polite words thanking people for posting something, or ask people to open support ticket directy, or begging someone to mark their posts as solutions.   Many active and postive contributors of this forum, including you and me, never do those stupid and superficial things, but rather focus on the problem mentioned and tried our best to provide good solution and accurate information.

Some of my governmental or corporate customers use Soti products in use cases that can cost or save lives.   Irresponsible comments from someone, who may only want to get more more exposure in this forum or get a paid rise in his annual appraisal, can potential affect my customers, many of which are encouraged to frequently monitor this forum.  So wrong information can affect my customers and may even cost lives.

I don't want to name names.  But if I find someone who CONSISTENTLY spreading seriously wrong information that can cause great financial loss to Soti customers worldwide, I will try to gather support from you and other active and positive contributors of this forum, and report to senior management of Soti to have that guy banned from using this forum, and maybe to remove the so-called moderators who do nothing to perform required regulation.

Hello all,

First thanks for the time you spend for to respond to this quesiton .

Perhpas my question was not clear sorry.
For to resume, zebra stop to produce the TC75X and of course no persons send us this information.
We have buy for more than 1 million but the reseller of zebra don't send us information about this.

Now, the reseller send us information about the successer about the device TC75X -> TC77 but it's an android 11.
And of course, the plan of IT for year 2022 is more or less full ..

we don't want to upgrade to a new version of mobicontrol.
Also migrate all apps we have into android 11 will need to be analyse for to take this into account.
And also, all devices here is enrolled into android+.
The TC77 will be not possible to enroll into this type.

In the road map of 22, we plan to discover android entreprise, compare these two enrollment types, see advantage of both and perhpas migrate all devices to entreprise.
All our devices is again in android 7.

I think to ask this question because i work into IT since 10 years and it's wonderfull how persons share experience, try to help other person over the world, that's so nice.

@rafael -> thanks for all

@raymond -> thanks also for your comment.
But ok i understand we need to borrow the TC77 and see how it will be possible to enroll, test our app and so on.
But on this link below, i find the version of mobicontrol we have 14.4 support android 9, here is it the link

https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v14.3/en/setup/installing/supported_devices.html

Perhpas the reseller make a first mistake about the replacement of the device.

And if you don't take information BEFORE to receive this device we can lose also some day of work..

Yes perhpas this question was to quickly post in this forum before some reflexion or read twice :).
But thanks you for the time you spend here and share your knowledge with sometimes some stupid person :) :)
I hope you continue to respond to my futur question :).

@matt -> thanks matt also yes we need to investigate and change the plan of the next year
It's not a good news for the entreprise but it's like that :)

thanks
