Location services problem

Hi there,

We are using MobiControl version 15.0.2.1049, with two type of Android devices (Urovo DT50 Android 9 and Honeywell Scanpal EDA50 Android 4.4) and there is a strange issue about location services with both kind of devices.

If I login web console as a built-in MobiControl user and request a device location, I got back the location and it appears on Bing Maps. But if I login as an Active Directory user with the same permission and request a location, nothing happens. There is a "Device located" entry in the logs but nothing appears on Bing Maps.

Can you give me some idea what happens when I request a device location? What kind of request goes where, what kind of data come back from where, etc.?

Thanks for your help!

Are you referring to Soti-Identity account when you said "Active-Directory user"? Or are you referring to Mobicontrol user authenticated with integrated AD/LDAP/IdP server?

If it is the latter case, are the global/per-group permssion of your bult-inMobiControl user and those of the Activie-Directory user the same in your system?

I'm referring to user authentication with integrated LDAP server.

I've tested it with my own user wich is member of the built-in "MobiControl Administrators" group and the built-in Administrator user wich also member of the "MobiControl Administrators" group.

The per-group permission is full control for all device groups.

If I wanted to test it with other AD-user/AD-group or other built-in user, what is the specific global permission that control the location function?

If you have all the per-group permissions enabled for the AD-account of interest, then maybe the problem is related to something else.  Have you checked whether Mobicontrol device agent has location related app-permissions granted, and whether there is any differenct in location service output if you add data-collection rule with location data being collected?
