Dears,I'm facing an issue on new devices running Android 14, Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro.Agent Version: 2024.0.5.1062MobiControl Version: 2024.0.1.1020I have a profile applied, with Lockdown and Camera and Gallery added to the Lockdown screen. Both apps has been enabled with script enable_system_app com.sec.android.app.camera/com.sec.android.gallery3d. However, when trying to open a camera, I got a pop up that "Security policy preventing use of Camera". Camera is enabled in feature control. I do have the same device running Android 13, enrolled with the same profile, where this issue is not present.Does someone faced similar issue, and have a solution?Best regards,Wiktor Mlynski
Hi community, I'm using SOTI Surf on TC57X with Android Enterprise. (SOTI MobiControl 15.3.2.1072) When i open the camera dialog via Surf i've to choose between Camera and Data. When i use Chrome the Camera App opens automatically. Is there any way to configure this?
Although Camera Enable switch is set on, Soti Surf does not take this camera permission into account. A user has to allow camera manually every time a webpage accesses the camera. At Safari, there are three options at the Settings: Ask, Disable and Enable. Ones it is enabled, Safari stops showing the prompt. (Surf only has two options - Disable and Enable).
I have a conflict that I have a tedious workaround to right now that would like to solve with one action. We have a backlog Android 7 devices and now with the new hardware using Android 9. The difference in the camera app is in the package name org.codeaurora.snapcam vs org.codeaurora.snapcamera. Is there a wildcard optioning for the Launch:// package name that would allow me to use either naming of the camera or is the only option here to have a second profile fully setup with that new camera name? I was also interested in the Script File setup, but have found very little in helpful notes. Would be something interesting to be if apilevel is 24/25, use snapcam; if 28, then use snapcamera?
Hi, we would like to be able to let users take pictures with camera app and then share/send them through the installed outlook app. At the moment we are receiving error: "can't share pictures while screen is locked" Any idea how to bypass/solve this error ?
Hi, I've got a device which is in Lockdown, but it also needs access to the camera. Currently, the camera isn't working. First I tried issuing the following script command: enable_system_app com.sec.android.app.camera Then I tried to take the steps shown here: https://discussions.soti.net/thread/enable-built-in-camera-within-kiosk-mode/ and I've also ensured that "Lockdown type" is not set to "Activity suppression". However, this doesn't work. Also, if I enable the camera option in the lockdown screen and click the camera, I get a "package not found" message. Furthermore, the log will get a new entry with the following text: Error message received from device (Package [com.sec.android.app.camera] does not contain default activity) Any idea what could be the culprit? Need a way to reduce camera resolution when taking pics using an android enterprise tablet. Would prefer to use the default android camera, since unable to find an open source camera app to edit the UI.
Hi all, We are currently working with some Unitech TB85 tablets - staged using Android for Work. I am trying to send a script where possible to change the default storage location of the camera - and started down the path of using 'watchsettings' However Soti reports this script is not supported by the device. Are there any alternatives to this that can produce the same results please? I have tried some variations of the writesecuresetting command, but without knowing the actual setting this is just pot luck at this stage. Any help greatly appreciated. Leigh
MobiControl 13.4, Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T510), Android 9.0, Android+ I have an in-house developed app that allows my end users to call the default camera app & take a picture of a document, crop it, adjust the brightness & contrast, then returns that image to the original app to upload to our proprietary system. My app and its ability to call the camera, take the picture and send the document all work fine with MobiControl installed & the device not in Kiosk Mode, or if there is an explicit link in Kiosk Mode to launch the camera (Launch://com.sec.android.app.camera). I do not want users to access the camera directly, only from inside the app so I have removed the link in Kiosk mode and unchecked Samsung Package Disabling in Advanced Lockdown Settings in Kiosk Mode settings. This seems to allow the camera, but the camera crashes and resets the tablet back to the Kiosk launcher view. Hello all, I am having an issue that I can't quite seem to figure out. We have a Progressive Web App (PWA) running inside of SOTI Surf that is accessing the tablets camera in order to scan barcodes. When the page comes up, the camera is shown but inside the "Select Camera" dropdown list, it shows (no Permission). Since the Camera was showing, I didn't think much of it. After about a week of just letting the device sit idle, I go to launch the page and where the camera box would normally be, there is a gray box with an X in it like it won't load. Any idea why this is happening? I originally thought it was permissions inside of SOTI Surf but I'm not so sure about that now.
hey guys, when i enroll my samsung tablet with enterprise, alot of the apps get uninstalled. we need apps like camera, gallery, calendar and calculator on the kiosk. is there a way to correct this? i am sure i am missing a step.
Hello all, we have mobicontrol admin in version : 13.3.0.3454 we have some device zebra tc75 with mobicontrol client on version : 13.5.0 build 1677 I have a lock down (authentification / html page) on some device, on feature control i have checked disable camera. That's work fine, we have do this BECAUSE when device SLEEP after 30 min (time max) , users wake up the device and an icon camera appears ... If users take a picture after it's possible to SHARE IT .. BUT, now the problem is, we need to take picture for the new version of our app... I have checked with a little POC -> app with just a button who take a picture and of course, it's not possible to start the camera .. How to solve this ? Or perhpas How to disable sleep mode ? thanks
Hi, I'm currently investigating how I can automate as much of our tablet setup process as possible. One thing we do is reduce the camera resolution for saved images, so images that my company's field team upload to our systems, don't fill the servers with unnecessarily high quality images! I've looked at the following posts and attempted the watchsettings on function but I'm not seeing logs for the settings in the camera app on Android 7 (Samsung Galaxy Tab S2). https://discussions.soti.net/thread/what-is-the-script-command-to-pull-a-uri/ https://discussions.soti.net/thread/set-the-device-settings-using-a-script-or-configuration-file/ I understand there's more flexibility with Android Enterprise but Samsung isn't one of the certified manufacturers so we are having to stick with Android Plus. Is there another way I can find out what is being changed when the setting is modified in an attempt to script it? Thanks in advance!
Hello, if i try to take a picture with an application in kiosk mode i receive the message: com.sec.android.gallery3d is deactivated. The script "enable_system_app com.sec.android.gallery3d" is not working. i get this message: Script command is not supported by device (enable_system_app) what else could i ty?
