I work for a library where we lend out tablets to our patrons. I get them back at the end of the lending period and wipe data from them for the next patron to borrow. The issue is that recently I've gotten two devices returned; one locked behind a pin and another with a password set and I can't get into them.. I initially called Soti support and they told me I had the correct settings set that should block this; using kiosk/lockdown mode with an authentication rule with a password set. And since I have the ‘factory reset” option blocked by Mobicontrol I can’t factory reset the device.. Soti support couldn’t help me further. Fortunately for the pin I was able to contact the patron and they told me the pin. I asked them how they set the pin and they said they didn't know. Saying maybe it was by pairing the tablet with their phones. With a same model test tablet that run the same profile as the ones we lend out I ran a test, pairing my smartphone with the tablet but afte trying it several times I didn't find any way that triggered or prompted me to set a pin so I don't know how they did that. The second one where it's asking for a password, the patron's phone number isn't working and I don't think I can get a hold of them easily to ask. The device at present isn't on wifi so no Mobicontrol cloud connection and I can't do anything with it without it asking for a password, including power cycling it. I have two questions: Is there another setting(s) I need to enable/disable to block this type of thing from happening again? Let me know if you know what else I should adjust in the profile for our devices to prevent this from happening again. Any other tips for accessing the password protected tablet? I’m thinking if I can’t get the password from the patron then it's stuck.. But I’d thought I’d ask in case I’m missing something I could do/try. What I have set on these devices: -They're locked in kiosk/lockdown mode with an authentication rule and password set (password policy type disable lockscreen). -We’re using android enterprise and these are work managed devices provisioned/enabled with a managed google play accounts. -The password protected tablet is using agent v15.4.6.1013 and the tablet itself is a Galaxy Tab S5e (all our tablets are this model) -I have the factory reset blocked in feature control (the idea was I wanted to keep knowledgeable end users from wiping/stealing our devices..) Thanks for your time.
I've set up three new admins in our MobiControl portal but the accounts won't let them log in. After setting up the accounts do I need to enable them somewhere? Not sure if it makes any difference but we are cloud based, not on-prem.
Hello, One of my projects uses Samsung tablets. I need to configure certificates with a SOTI profile. A configuration with a SOTI certificates imposes an password for screen lock. Is it possible to bypass this requirement ? For example ZEBRA bypasses this obligation. For information I use a Samsung Active PRO tablet Android version : 11Agent Version : AE 15.1.2.1075Console Version : 15.4
Hello, Currently we couldn't find a way to set a passcode for managed iPadOS devices... After joining the remote management profile, user have to input the password manually. As we want to setup a standard password across all iPads, we need to enforce the password to be a certain value. Please advise how it can be done for iPadOS, thank you. Thanks and Regards, Lok
Hi Guy's, how can i setup the gmail app (or any other app) with one User for alle Devices. I want to Use Username an Password, but i can't type in anywhre the password on SOTI.
We have recently found that we are unable to factory reset any devices enrolled within our Android Enterprise enrollment if they offline within Mobicontrol and have an unknown password / passcode set. Prior to the introduction of AE we were able to get the devices password / passcode incorrect a set number of times before it initiated a factory reset of the device. We have the same configuration set within our device profiles, but after the set number of incorrect passwords / passcodes are entered its simply loops round to locking us out for say 30 seconds and then requests for the password / passcode again. Has anyone else experienced this? We've logged it with our support partner but they have advised its the agent version installed on the phones, this affects every single device we have enrolled within AE (variety of agent versions) and we can only factory reset the device IF its online within our MobiControl portal? We have "Disabled Factory" reset within the feature control for all devices, which was also present prior to AE and we also have "Maximum number of failed password attempts before device wipe" set to 8, which was also the same prior to AE. Please help guys.
Hello, I am testing the kiosk mode for an android terminal +, everything seems to work well apart from one thing. I can not leave the kiosk mode from the terminal. Let me explain, when I'm on my kiosk I keep pressing the return key and type my password, the kiosk is unlocked but 3 or 4 seconds later the kiosk mode relaunches itself. Could you help me? below my version of mobicontrol and android + Spec:
Hey all, Quick question. We have windows mobile scan guns (MC9190/9200) We have authentication to our AD server turned on. Logging in works but we have the option set to prompt for password after 10 minutes of non-use. This setting doesn't appear to work. After the user logs in and you leave the scan gun alone it never prompts for the password again. Removed all profiles (except wifi) with the same result. Is this a known issue? Or am I missing a configuration option? Thanks, Chris
Hi! When we use the script "resetpassword xxxx" on our TC56 devices running on Android 7+ we also get the setting for PIN on device boot enabled. When setting this manually we get the question if we want to use the PIN even for device boot. Is it possible for MobiControl to not set the PIN for device boot as well?
Hello all, we have mobicontrol on version 13.3.3454 we have device zebra tc75x on version 6 with agent on version : 13.6.1476 enrolled by android + we have profile with lockdown and authentification. That's work fine. After an audit of security some users can by pass the lock down by just press the COMA on google keyboard. I join a print screen of the step. Anyone has some idea about how to find a solution for this ? what we can do ? thanks for your time
hey guys, we have a lot of devices enrolled in android plus. we use a kiosk (lockdown screen) to display approved apps, including email. my question is, is there a way for the user to protect his device with a pin code or pattern lock with soti? if so, in the event of the employee leaving the company and returning the device, is there a way for me to bypass or remove the pin through SOTI MobiControl? Thanks in advance!
After rebooting device and opening application that uses certificate installed through other profile it asks for credential storage password. If I press cancel, it will ask to allow certificate after some while. If device is rebooted and left alone for a minute or two, it works just fine. Application is using certificates and Authentication profile is set. Everything also works if PIN to unlock is added. It looks like SOTI is starting some process that allows access to keystore (only my guess). Is it possible to enable it manually, startup or through script? One solution was to include a scripted delay when opening app from lockdown, but this seems to not be the best solution, because time it takes to set everything up differs and we would like to achieve the best startup without 3-5 min delay, if possible.
Hey Guys, we want to set up a Pin-Code to unlock all of our Devices (Zebra TC20 + TC51). Here's the Serverside config: As you can see, we only want a Pin without alphabetic characters. Unfortunately our Endpoints showing up this (wants min. one alphabetic character): Also other options like pattern wants a password with numeric an alphabetic characters. How can we set up only a PIN on our devices? Any suggestions? Why seems MC not allow any other options than password? Thank you!
Hi, I'm getting the following message on a Galaxy Samsung J1 device when in the lock screen "Enter password for credential storage". I've checked all the obvious permissions and can't see what may be causing it. The logs suggest something re the password? I've got other devices with the same profile "Core Prime" but the message doesn't appear on those? Client version 13.5 Android 4.4.4 Has anyone got any ides on what may be causing it? 2018-08-13 16:01:41.106|pool-1-thread-1|I|AP|[PasswordOrPolicyChangedListener.ensureKeyguardQuality][run] Requesting keystore unlock ..|2018-08-13 16:01:41.175|pool-1-thread-1|D|AP|[BlacklistChecker][isBlocked] component: ComponentInfo{net.soti.mobicontrol.elm.samsung/net.soti.mobicontrol.device.security.KeyStoreUnlockActivity} is allowed settings component: true|2018-08-13 16:01:41.196|pool-1-thread-1|D|AP|[KeyStoreUnlockActivity][doOnCreate] this activity just starts another android activity|2018-08-13 16:01:41.219|pool-1-thread-1|W|AP|[KeyStoreUnlockActivity][onActivityResult] keystore state=REQUIRE_STORAGE_PASSWORD|
Hi all, We have 500+ Android devices, and are looking at rolling out a lockdown profile. However, we want to restrict the users from accessing settings. Ideally they will need to be able to change an enforced password. I managed to create a change password icon on the lockdown screen, but it doens't require the user to enter their current password. Therefore anyone could change the device password whilst it is unlocked. Is there any way to require user to enter their current password before changing it? Otherwise they will need to call my team - get them to remotely disable the password, or change it to whatever the user requests. Many thanks in advance, Seb
