Application Run Control - device settings

Hello,

I have around 250 Honeywell CT60 units. When adding com.android.settings to blacklist, the unit will not start up again after I turn it off. It is stuck on Honeywell start/boot screen, and I have to Factory Reset the unit to get it on again. I blaclist many other apps, but it only crashes when I add settings to blacklist.

My mission is to prevent the user of the unit to access settings on the device. I used this controll earlier, but after i updated Soti to the latest version, the CT60 crash. So its working on the unit, but not on the version of Soti im running I guess

Any idea what to do?

Tried on Android 7.1.1 and 9. same result.

Hello HelVan,

Thank you for your quick response, do you have lockdown profile pushed on the devices?

I dont use lockdown profile, only Authentication and Application run control.

I tried to use lockdown profile when this problem occured, but the I had a problem with an in-house application that needs to be restarted often when switching applications. I tried to add "script://kill_application package name" on lockdown screen but got an Script error on that choice, so that is not working either at the moment.

The best option is to use application run control, but I really dont want the users to access "settings"

Hello HelVan,

Thank you for your response, devices are enrolled as Android Plus or Android Enterprise? I will try to find script and will get back to you at earliest.

Hello HelVan,

Thank you for your response, please try below script -

Manualblacklist add "bundle id of the app (find this in Application tab of the device)"

Manualblacklist on

Let me know if this works for you.

The same happend again. THe CT60 is stuck on the Honyewell boot screen.

I might go for Lockdown if its impossible to blacklist com.android.settings.

But the I need a working script to restart or kill application. So the user has a choice to restart or close the app on the lockdown screen.

As I mentioned earlier, the one I tried didnt work : script://kill_application package name

Hi,

I've the same problem with Zebra TC56 (Android 8.1) which is registered to COBO Android Enterprise. Lockdown isn't used because recent task list doesn't work on this android version. So I need to disable settings. When I disable Settings the device can't to start up after restarting the device. Do you have any idea?

I am also suffering this issue with some of our Honeywell CT60s running Android 9 under MobiControl Version: 15.5.0.1021.

It's very disappointing to see that it's apparently not been resovled after more than 2 years.

Please could SOTI investigate this further?

We have the same issue with Soti 2024.

lot of scanners are now stuck on the boot screen.

TC52's with Android 9

MC33's with Android 8

This should get high priority at Soti. There is a risk a complete warehouse is not able to work anymore with this bug
