Trying to get Soti working on Xplore XSlate D10

We are trying to get the our software package to down and install onto the D10 device. We keep getting in the mobi control a red icon with arrow saying Agent not compatable. On the device under profile within Soti we can see the software package but it keeps saying pending. it will not install for some reason.

Also when we select the device in the mobi control, select the compliance and it says agent compatible is No.

Hi Shane,

Provided that you are using MobiControl v14, I have confirmed internally that the latest agent available at https://docs.soti.net/oem for Xplore Technologies should be compatible with Xplore X Slate D10.

This can be caused due to one of the following two reasons:

1. Device agent outdated:  On one of the test device, please download the latest agent available at https://docs.soti.net/oem for this OEM and see if the issue still persists

2. Database Agent Compatibility entry missing: If your device has the latest supported agent, but MobiControl still shows the agent to be incompatible, there is a high chance the agent compatibility entry for that device OEM is missing in your MobiControl database. Please log a case with SOTI technical support here.

Once the agent is shown as compatible in the MobiControl web console, the package/profile deployments will be successful.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

As Shane hasn't mentioned the current MobiControl Server version, nor the agent version/build numbers and the D10 firmware version,  it can be premature to say whether the latest Xplore Andorid+ agent available at https://docs.soti.net/oem should be used.  How can we be sure the latest version is the most compatible to his current server or device firmware?

Compatibility of the device agent to the device firmware and/or its Android version can also be the root problem.  Some MobiControl users sometimes just 'blindly' upgrade their device agent to the latest version in the hope of using some new features.  Sometimes, a new agent installed will endlessly crash the system, resulting in repeated reboot deadlocks.  This can be disastrous if there are many many such devices deployed remotely all get crashed repeatedly, and a massive device recall or even re-enrollment may be needed.

I hope guys from Soti will be more cautious when touching some topics that can have big consequences, especially for the benefits of newcomers.   Clear explanations, assumptions, limitations and/or warnings may be needed in such cases.

Mobi Control Server Version : 14.1.6

Agent build from the OEM site on soti : 13.5.1 ( this is default for the xplore technologies )

D10 Android Version : 6.0.1

Any help would be great.

We can get it working no problem on Samsung devices...

Hi Raymond,

Thank you for providing the feedback and noticing the issue my response could cause for future readers of this post.

After reading the post and verifying the account details internally, it was safe to assume the MobiControl version used here is MobiControl v14. Also verified with our OEM team that MobiControl v13.5.1 agent was successfully tested with Xplore XSlate D10 device.

I have updated my response to reflect that for any future readers of the post.

Thanks
