Open a URL with an access to camera

We want to use Samsung Tab Active 3 to allow the employees to clock in/out from the workspace entrance using face recognition. I created a new profile to make the tablet open the URL in the kiosk mode but the camera doesn't open when we click on it. Can somebody please help me to change the camera's permession?

I use SOTI enterprise V. Version: 15.6.0.1018

Hello Shadi Zaarour

Thank you for posting in SOTI Pulse.

Have you included the bundle ID as an item in the lockdown so that it will open?

... gave the same answer but seem not to be posted...

I also wanted to mention @Shadi, please check in admin mode in chrome if the website is requesting the camera permission. You could maybe manual grant this permission (for the website!) there (i don't know which browser the lockdown uses) as well and test again.

Hello,

When I use Chrome as a web browser, it works and we can open the camera. However, we would like to use the default SOTI web browser as it is faster and more compatible with kiosk mode.

Answer to the question in the last post: NO, I did not include the bundle ID as an item in the blocking, but tried to change the camera's permission by sending a script.

Thanks

MobiControl kiosk mode uses its built-in browser/renderer engine inside the device agent binary, which should be Webkit-based.  Unfortunately, there is no sites settings options parameters as in Chrome browser UI to allow device end-users to configure camera and/or microphone permissions of URL sites.

To solve your problem, you might need to reveal more details how your clock in/out web-app is written to access camera function (e.g. which web API call, etc.).

Have you tried testing the app using Soti Surf secure browser app as your lockdown menu item (i.e. using surf:://)?  If there is similar problem, then a feature request for Surf browser app may be raised to add support for site permission configuration similar to that in Chrome.

Thank you, Raymond, for your answer.

I tried everything, but unfortunately nothing helped me. Maybe I did that wrong.

I still use Chrome but it's not a good solution.

Hello Shadi,

I had the same issue days ago, and I spent hours trying to solve it (my Camera app was already in the lockdown profile).
I just solved this by enabling SOTI Surf, and it's a great web browser from what I'm testing so far.

Hello Renan,

Could you please give me more information about how you did that?

Shadi,

Firstly, I made a new app policy at "App Policies" tab containing the SOTI Surf app, provisioned by Play Store.

Then, I assigned it to my target mobiles, after a couple of minutes all of them have installed it.

Finally, in the Profiles tab, I added a new configuration called "SOTI Surf", which manages some settings for the Soti Browser. You have to change your URL from "https://" to"surf://" in the Lockdown settings.

Hope this works for you.

Regards

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I still have the same problem even though I did everything you wrote.
