The AEDO migration claims another victim!

In short, no. You will either need to downgrade the device to Android 7.1.2 and use Android+ (DA) with the OEM agent or migrate your management practices to Android Enterprise which will mean rebuilding your staging process and configuration profiles. This is a byproduct of the Device Administrator management deprecation being forced about by Google. Technically speaking Zebra Oreo devices still support DA based management but SOTI has opted to move us toward Android Enterprise a little bit early. It's for the better as migration from DA to AEDO is an inevitability. All of your repaired devices and net new devices will likely be returning back and shipping with at least Android O from this point forward so you need to figure out a plan of action between downgrading to 7.1.2 or migrating to AEDO based management.

We consistently warn our customers about this inevitability and provide them with the option of standardizing on a DA capable OS version with staging services via the distribution and repair depots. Alternatively we start them off on AEDO early (decent support exists on Android N) so they are future proofed. If your hardware vendor didn't properly prepare you for this transition then I would consider a more capable vendor in the future!

Any luck on this? Did you end up moving forward with AE or downgrading the device to N in order to use an OEM agent with DA?
