Getting error when adding app from Google Play Store to Application Catalog Rule - "The server could not complete your request. An internal error occurred." Solved

Hi, we are getting error when we try to add google play store apps to an application catalog rule. The error appears after selecting the app in the search results. I have noticed that the version field is not filled in and also the description field contains some encrypted text. Issue happens with any app we tried. My guess is that the system is unable to parse the data from the app store correctly. Eventually the entry gets added after few retries but then I have noticed errors in the DS Log: 2018-07-10 12:12:02,526 (0x00002b20) [ERROR] ServerUtils::CheckIfMandatoryApplicationInstalled() Failed to verify MandatoryApplication version: Device(990004699487892), Expected(net.soti.surf), Got(net.soti.surf14.1.0 Build 58) I do see some errors in the Management Service log that might be related: ********************************************************************* Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. *********************************************************************[TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.] at System.RuntimeMethodHandle.InvokeMethod(Object target, Object[] arguments, Signature sig, Boolean constructor) at System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.UnsafeInvokeInternal(Object obj, Object[] parameters, Object[] arguments) at System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.Invoke(Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Binder binder, Object[] parameters, CultureInfo culture) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.MarketSearchCommunicationService.Details(MarketDetailsRequest request) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.ServiceBase.Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.Contracts.IMarketSearchCommunicationService.Details(MarketDetailsRequest request) at SyncInvokeDetails(Object , Object[] , Object[] ) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.SyncMethodInvoker.Invoke(Object instance, Object[] inputs, Object[]& outputs) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.ServiceOperationInvoker.Invoke(Object instance, Object[] inputs, Object[]& outputs) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.DispatchOperationRuntime.InvokeBegin(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage5(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage11(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.MessageRpc.Process(Boolean isOperationContextSet) { [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] at Soti.MarketSearch.MarketSearchHelper.GetAppInfo(String queryString) } ******************************************************************** ### 2018-07-10 16:25:50.982 WARN  [78]: GetInnerText: value is nul or empty. Soti Surf stuck after profile assignment with message "The administrator has made changes to the surf app's settings. Please launch the browser again" Solved

Hi, we are using SOTI solution for customer facing kiosks with a web site displayed in Soti Surf in kiosk mode. Soti Surf must be in the foreground at all times displaying the web site. The issue that we are facing is that after re-assignment of our profile (includes Application Run Control, Feature Control, Soti surf settings and Lockdown), Soti Surf gets stuck with a screen showing the message "The administrator has made changes to the surf app's settings. Please launch the browser again" (see screenshot). This happens even if there are no changes to Soti Surf settings. The tablet is enclosed in a kiosk stand so there is no access to the controls of the device. Customers cannot use the kiosk until a technician connects remotely to the device and re-starts Soti Surf on every single device. Please, advise how we can solve this issue without manual intervention. Ideally this message will be bypassed or Soti Surf will restart automatically. The devices are Samsung android tablets running OS 5.0.2 (Lollipop). MobiControl version is 13.3.0.3217, the agent version is 13.3.2.1004 (ELM) and Soti Surf version is 14.1.1.1121. Thank you

Install Android APK when previous version not in use?

Is there any method for limiting the installation of an Android APK Package on an Android+ device based on a detection of whether a particular application is in the foreground? It would be nice to be able to trigger the installation of a new version of an application based on the current version not being in use so that we can avoid interrupting end users. MobiControl already can detect which app is actively in the foreground as it is one of the options for Collected Data, it would be ideal to leverage that with some sort of Filter Criteria whereby you could specify something along the lines of: If com.x.y ! in foreground, then install package.

Mobicontrol Cloud, Android Plus Alert Rule for every device enrollment

I am looking for the best way to get an email alert each time a device is enrolled.  We have devices returning from depot service from a shared spare pool.  This means that I must delete/unenroll my damaged device before sending to depot, because I will not always be getting the same device back from depot.  It is possible that a previously used and now repaired device will return from depot at a later time. I tried using the "Add new device" Event from the Alert Rule wizard, which covers the new device (that's never been enrolled with MobiControl) scenario.  The problem is this method does not alert me if a device that has been previously enrolled is re-enrolled.  I need both to work. As a workaround, we have applied a single profile to devices and are using a "Profile installed" Event to send email alerts to appropriate teams.  This is not ideal, as we are sending a useless package just for the sake of an alert rule. Can anyone help me with a more simplified alert process that is triggered every time a device is enrolled?

Content Library files location on an Android+ tablet

I'm trying to diagnose an issue I'm seeing on some of our deployed tablets related to the Content Library.  In order to figure out what is happening I need to look at where the Content Library files are saved to the tablet, as in the specific folder on the device where they download to. Where is the specific folder that the MobiControl client puts the Content Library files?

SOTI Surf - Downlaoding as .aspx

Hi, I've come across an issue using SOTI surf which I suspect may more likely be an issue on the wb application were using but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts. We have a web app provided by a 3rd party whereby employees can download files (rota's in this case) that should download in .PDF format. Having tested on Chrome and other browsers it works correctly and downloads as a PDF. However in SOTI surf it appears to download as a .aspx file and subsequently cannot be opened. I've tested with the latest version of SOTI surf and the issue is still the same. I'm guessing its the way the site itself is dealing with SOTI surf as a opposed to anything that can be changed on the way SOTI works? Were using Samsung Galaxy X cover 4 devices on Android 7.0 Welcome any thoughts?

    SOTI Surf security warning

We're testing SOTI Surf in combination with SOTI lockdown (kiosk/single app) on a device running Android 4.4.4 (soon on Android 7). Only one URL is white-listed and set as home page. The website is opened, but then SOTI Surf prompts a security warning: There’s a problem with this website’s security certificate. Proceed anyway? After pressing 'OK', the webpage is shown. SOTI Surf is configured, but I'm unable to locate the security settings which could disable this message. Under SOTI Surf Privacy Settings I was unable to find a suitable option.

    Parameter settings lockdown browser

Hi, Is it possible to change any settings of the default "browser", if you just enter an URL as http:// (No browser:// or chrome://, ..) as a menu item for the Android lockdown? I'd like to disable the ability to safe form data. With Android Studio I would use something like  webSettings.setSaveFormData(false); We use Zebra TC51 with Android 7.1.2Thanks in advanced.

TC55 offline after SOTI agent upgrade

HI, We run SOTI MoniControl version 13.4.0. One of the devices we manage is the Zebra TC55 running android 4.4.3. We tried to upgrade the SOTI agent on the device because it is needed for some functionalities. The issue here is, after we send the upgrade command the device went offline in SOTI and never came back. We checked with its owner but the device is rebooted and online for sure, but we are no longer able to manage it.  How can we make sure the device comes back online in SOTI?

Force Android Enterprise Catalog Rule Reinstall

Hi, In a use case we have a catalog rule for Android Enterprise with some 10 apps as mandatory. When the rule is applied, some apps get installed but some don't. So user has to exit kiosk mode and install them manually. This obviously is not good. How could we force those apps to install ? With profiles, we can force profile reinstallation, but with catalog rules? Thank you. Mobicontrol version: 14.1.5.1284 Devices: Moto G5S Android 7.1.1

Update of Android APK Package on AFW Phone fails with File IO Error

Do I have to uninstall my existing Android App, everything I want to deploy a package with an updated APK in MobiControl? Here's my workflow: 1. Factory Reset Nokia 8 Android 8.0.1 phone and set up with Android for Work (afw#mobicontrol) and enroll in MobiControl. 2. Build my Android APK, create a Package, and assign Package to Phone 3. Confirm app is up and running 4. Make a change to my Android APK, create new Package 5. Remove old package from Profile and add new Package 6. Save and Assign to phone 7. Install fails with File IO Error Current workaround: 1. Remove old app on phone by looking at Applications in MobiControl, finding the app and clicking remove 2. Redeploy new Package. The problem is that by uninstalling the existing app I am loosing a database that I need to maintain and this is alsoa long and painful process for 60+ phones. Am I missing something here? Thanks, Ciaran
