We have recently upgraded to MC 14.4.7.1053 and I was excited to take advantage of the Android Enterprise features but from what I see at this point it looks like it's really beneficial for BYOD and not COBO (Company Owned, Business Only) unless I'm missing something. The work profile doesn't really work for us, we are still wanting to enable a lockdown screen, feature controls and so on. One of the features I'm really wanting to take advantage of is the Disable Factory Reset Protection. We have an issue with our employees adding personal Google accounts on our phones then they are factory resetting them making the phone useless. Any thoughts, comments or suggestions are welcome.
With our TC70x and TC72 devices, after some seemingly random amount of time ranging from a few hours to overnight, if the devices are not used then they will go white as pictured below. Tapping on the screen does nothing but if I click the Square button I get the Administrator and Refresh Buttons. If I click the Administrator button and type in the admin password, then I can access the device like normal, everything is fine. If I then switch the device back into User mode then the white screen comes back. So it is the kiosk mode itself but I am not sure how to prevent this. Devices: TC70x and TC72 OS: Android 8.1.0 MobiControl: 13.7.5 Build 1013 Patching: Does this on a device with no LG patches and one with most recent
Trying to enroll some Amazon Fire 7 (2019) tablets into Mobicontrol, however the "Amazon" agents both install but error out afterwords saying they are not compatible. Is there a compatible agent for these devices?
This was working but now I'm unable to run a report. We have a cloud service and are using v13.4. I saw on an ealier thread that someone else had the same problem and it was an MS-SQL package issue. As we're using the cloud version we don't have access to the server in that way. Can anyone assist?
Hi all I am aware based on 2 previous postings of this issue and noticed that Soti themselves responded saying it would be fixed in a future agent version update, however since then for the above devices (SM-T395) running Android 9.0 when switching between apps whilst in lockdown the apps are being killed when switched meaning the user is logged out and has to start afresh. This is causing issues with some of our apps and our users are growing frustrated and is causing more support calls to us. The last time the issue was reported was back in August with someone asking what the issue was and was there any update to the fix? Can anyone advise when this is going to be fixed as we currently have in excess of 150 people using this model of tablet with this issue that have further issues caused by Soti killing the apps. Any ideas when this will finally be fixed? Agent versions ranging from 14.0 to 14.1 currently on our tablets. Thanks
I have been driving myself crazy trying to find the root cause of this. The MobiControl agent on our TC8000 scanners are constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. The worst part of it is that eventually it will cause the scanners to completely lock up and they have to be force rebooted. The workaround right now is to disable the MobiControl agent on the scanners (force close the app) which will prevent them from locking up, but obviously the downside is that I can't remotely manage them while the agent isn't running. I have tried disabling Doze mode, disabling Bluetooth, GPS, etc. and nothing seems to work. I even went as far as reinstalling SOTI and completely rebuilding the SOTI database as I thought maybe the database got corrupted somehow, but it didn't change anything. Our wireless network in the building is rock solid so I know that is not what is causing the agent to crash. Does anyone have any other ideas that I can try? As you can see from the logs of this particular scanner it was constantly disconnecting (all day) until finally at 4:46 PM the scanner froze and I had to force a reboot. This happens a lot on scanners that are connected to SOTI.
Hello I've done a bit of searching on the forums, but haven't been able to find an answer to my question. Forgive me if this has been asked before. We manage a large number of Zebra TC51 devices for one of our clients. These devices are frequently assigned a new device name from the MobiControl WebConsole. We have had situations in the past where we would need to retrieve the previous device name after a new name has already been assigned. Is it possible to retrieve the previous device name from a device? Any help you could provide would be appreciated.
Hello, Sorry to post here again in such a short time but we are having lots of issues right now. We have open tickets with SOTI support as it is. It started with Google Gboard breaking on a lot of Android+ Zebra TC56 devices this past week, which led me to push out a SOTI package with the newest version of Gboard that fixed the crashing. (I extracted the apk from a device we had here, that I manually updated from play store). This was probably a bad fix but I didn't know what else to try since you can't force Google updates in a timely manner and no one was able to use the devices because of the crashing keyboard. This fixed the issue but NOW we have all our Zebras using an insane amount of data daily, nearly 500 MB per device in a few days which adds up quickly. The culprit is GBoard (listed in data usage on Android). I'm guessing Google is trying to auto update but since I have SOTI forcing the apk already, it can't. Here is my problem... I removed the Gboard package I pushed, and sent a SOTI uninstall script ("uninstall com.google.android.inputmethod.latin") followed by a reboot. This did not actually remove the application. Under Android Gboard settings it still says "App installed from MobiControl". This would probably be blocking Google auto updates. The only work around I can find is to go to Play Store (sign in first) and uninstall Gboard, then update it. My question is: is there a way to revoke MobiControl's ownership of this app somehow so it can return to be managed by Google Play? Or is there a better solution to this mess? I appreciate any and all responses. Thanks.
Hello, I am referencing a similar but less specific question here: https://discussions.soti.net/thread/set-app-permissions-with-soti/ I am using Android+ management with SOTI MobiControl. Basically I understand how to use Stagenow to create an XML that can then be called in the Post Install script in MobiControl package builder. However, within StageNow I cannot find anything that will allow me to grant permissions automatically for an app (basically automatically granting the pop up for Location, Storage, etc). Can anyone help me find the actual commands I could manually add to my XML or perhaps a StageNow configuration I'm missing? Thank you!
Hello, I am installing version 13.2 of MobiControl, to manage Android devices which are not certified by Soti (using Generic Android Agent). But after setting up the server, and activating using Eval key, i do not find the tab where i can manage Generic Android Devices. I believe that i should find this category, or this tab But in my case, i do not find it: I ask if there is, some twikes or changes that i should make to get what i am looking for. Thank you in advance,
Have a strange situation where a certain user account cannot see any profiles that are assigned to a device. For instance, a device has 3 profiles assigned to it and when this particular user selects the profile drop-down there are no profiles listed. When the user account was originally created, the user was not having this issue so it has appeared randomly at some point after being created. The permissions are being applied to these users from a group, and the rest of the users in the group are not having this issue. The issue actually happened a while back and I just created a new user for him which worked for a while but now it's exhibiting the same issues. Has anyone seen this or have any thoughts to resolve? Happens on multiple browsers and also different computers so do not believe it's some kind of caching issues. Thanks
Hi, our devices seem not be able to update the android mobicontrol agent (yes, i activated Agent-Upgrade and send agent upgrade). We got the information that an upgrade is not possible because the actual agent is still compatible. I mean, i know it, because it's running!?! -.- Now i tried the following way: 1. send the apk to the device filesystem 2. send script: install /mnt/sdcard/GoogleMobiControl1400_1579.apk 3. A prompt is shown on the device, which has to be confirmed with OK. 4. Update success Is it possible to do this without user prompt?
Hey there, I am trying to move some devices to a new install of Mobicontrol on a different server. I have a new SSL cert in place and have had some success enrolling new Android+ devices to it. I had some keep giving me "Connection to server failed, an error occurred during the process". I was able to get some devices to work moving between servers if I choose the remove certificates when unenrolling. However, a customer site cannot re-enroll their devices without this error. I have a ticket open but wanted to see if others were able to freely move devices around servers as I think should be allowed. I wonder if it is a certificate issue? Also, it seems like if I enroll with one server I am locked in, and try to enroll elsewhere and get this error. Now I cannot enroll devices from the new server back to the old: 2019-10-29 14:06:59,714 (0x00001da8) [INFO] MessageQueue::<AddWorkerThread>b__49_0() [328] New worker started2019-10-29 14:07:10,633 (0x000012f8) [INFO] MessageProtocolHandler::<Start>b__33_0() [ 31] PulseChecker enter: Send: False, Check: True, Memory: 120382192, ThreadPool: 32767, 999, Queue: 0, Workers: 202019-10-29 14:07:10,633 (0x000012f8) [INFO] MessageProtocolHandler::<Start>b__33_0() [ 31] PulseChecker exit: Total: 28, Connected: 4, Dropped: 0, Retried: 0, finished in 0 ms2019-10-29 14:07:26,998 (0x00000e8c) [INFO] Client::Accept() < 75> Comm.Client.2042: Accepted a new connection from [::ffff:173.162.166.161]:26610.2019-10-29 14:07:27,154 (0x00002b94) [INFO] <OnReceived>d__44::MoveNext() <210> Comm.Client.2042: Client [::ffff:173.162.166.161]:26610 authenticated. Hello everybody, does someone know if there is a script command to forcefully activate os updateson samsung devices (SM-P580)? My problem is that i can't do an os update on my devices. the function is greyed out. I checked all my profiles and there is no restriction for blocking the os update. but when i unenroll my devices the os functionality comes back. so that means thatmobicontrol is blocking somehow my os update on the devices. i thought i could send a command script to forcefully activate the os update... im running mobicontrol version 14.1 and the devices are running android 7/8. they are not enrolled as android enterprise i hope someone knows the command or maybe a fix for my problem
Hi All, I've recently received a Zebra MC93 for testing from one of my vendors, I'm in the process of getting it set up for our Warehouse Management System. I have DW enabled and set to "send enter" but when I scan a barcode it's not sending enter as it should be. I have attempted to force stop and relaunch DW after turning the checkbox off and on, restarting device, etc. I've also tested with multiple apps to verify it wasn't just an issue with our WMS app, or a specific profile.
