    Device related modifications Solved Locked

Hello,I want to use SOTI MobiControl to set up our barcode scanners with it. Two apps should be installed on the barcode scanner. I have already installed the two apps and set up a lockdown. But both apps have certain configurations and adjustments which should be exactly for the respective barcode scanner. This includes configuration files, user names and activation keys. How can such configurations be rolled out?One way I discovered was to simply create a package for the files for each device and then roll it out to the device. Unfortunately this way is very complicated if you have many barcode scanners.Another idea I had was to roll out the single files "generically" and then customize them with a small piece of JavaScript (with a task that should be executed immediately). But then the question is from which database the script should get the configuration. How do you solve the problem? With kind regardsAndreas Fendt

MobiControll 14 Enterprise Agent to Samsung A10 hangs on Adding Account

I have enrolled some Android 9 and 10 using the same add rules, with no problem et all. Unfortunately the Samsung A10, when in Android 10, hangs on the step to add account. It does not matter how many times we touch/click the message to add account, it does not proceeds further the installation. Usually, touching exhaustive on Google account it flows, but not for this case. Is there any work around to add the managed google account ?

Changing Java versions after installing Mobicontrol

Hi,    We have Mobicontrol 14.4.2.1307 running in two test labs as well as well as in the customer's production environment. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with changing java verson on after installing Mobicontrol. In particular, I need to switch to java openjdk in on of the labs to have it consistent with the other environments and the other instances need to be updated to the latest version of openjdk in order to alleviate some security. I've read this article(https://discussions.soti.net/kb/using-mobicontrol-with-openjdk-instead-of-java/) and it seems to imply that I might have to reinstall mobicontrol after I update/change java? Is this correct or is their a simpler way of migrating?         Michael Sun

    Packaging split APK files

Has anyone managed to create and deploy a package where the application has split apk'sThese are android+ devices, we manage the installs via packaging the apk and deploying them to the devices, We do not use google playstore nor application catalogue My normal process I installed an app from the playstore on one device, that ensures it is compatible and it works. I then use ADB to extract the apk from that device. I package the apk in package studio, import it to SOTI and deploy it to my estate. However, I have found that the latest release of the app, is now in 4 files base.apk split_config.armeabi_v7a.apk split_config.en.apk  split_config.tvdpi.apk I have tried adding them all to a package, but I get an IO Error when i try to deploy package via a profile The device giving me the IO Error previously had the application installed but since been uninstalled. I would assume that the installation order of the split apks are important, but I am not certain what is the correct order or how to set which order they are installed in package studio I would assume that the base apk would need installing first then the split_ files in turn The question is more, has anyone successfully installed and application with split apk's using mobicontrol? Searching the web, there are 3rd party apps such as SAI Split APK Installer which can install them, but that is not a solution for me. I want to use SOTI Mobicontrol to do it Thanks in advance for any info Edited to clarify

    AE enrollment with enrollment ID

Hi everyone, we are currently staging some AE devices with Honeywell Enterprise Provisioner with enrollment ID. In contrast to the staging method with INI file during the staging process we have to click on "Next" and "OK" while the device is preparing for WorkManaged device. Why? What is the difference to the AE staging method with INI file? Is the device connecting to google? If yes: Why does it connect to Google at this point of the staging process?

    Alert Rule using a Macro

Hi, is it possible to use an Alert Rule with Macros? For example We have .ini file on the device which contains the hostname for example "abc123" I want to raise an alert if the following happens Hostname.ini is not equal to %hostname% --> so the hostname the device itself has. If this alert gets raised, I want the device to start a script with which the hostname will change to the correct one. I cannot find any information, if the alerts are possible with macros. Thanks for any ideas how to proceed with this.

Changing registered User of device + Firmware version is not exported correctly

Hello Soti User,We use Soti Mobicontrol version: 14.3.0.3144 and manage Honeywell CT60 with Android 9 with the latest firmware (HON660-P-88.00.08-(0111)) and Agent 14.3.0.1000 In Mobicontrol we have registered the users with the corresponding device. But now we wanted to change the user again. This is currently not possible. The LDAP AD connection works, we select the new user, click on save. Then click on the "Refresh" icon and the setting is back on the old way. Deleting the settings with the trashcan icon also isnt working there. Is there a known error or a solution for us how to change the users without them returning to the old value?Unfortunately Mobicontol does not read the firmware version correctly. I have installed the 0111 firmware, via remote maintenance this is also shown to me.But Mobicontrol sometimes reads the old version "OEM version 88.00.03-(0032)".Therefore I have created a custom defined attribute "Newest Firmware?"After each update I manually set the value to True. But there are also problems here. In the device overview of many devices it says that the value of the attribute is unknown. But if I click on the device and scroll to the user-defined attributes, it shows me the correct value there. Many thanks and greetingsMaik

    Apple Watch Issues

We are using Mobicontrol to limit the iPhone to a few apps. Unfortunately we have found that whilst doing this the linked Apple watch stops working and hangs on the Apple logo. We have whitelisted the watch app and have allowed pairing the watch in feature control. Is there anything else we should look out for?

    Changing primary deploy agent address

Hi! we are using SOTI Mobicontrol v 14.4.2.1307 and have so far set up everything using local IP address so the devices connect to the server via LAN. Now we need to use a third party issued SSL, which means we need to use a FQDN for the deployment agent address. Our initial thought was to configure secondary deployment agent with the FQDN and add the certificates but it seems that all the agents use the same certificates which have FQDN only as host name and in some cases will display SSL errors. So now the only way out seems to be switching the primary and secondary agent addresses. As i read in other posts in this forum it's means simply changing the addresses in the administration utility and when a device does the check-in it will switch the configuration on the device agent accordingly. Our main concern is, what will happen to devices which are turned off during this process, will they also be able to change their configuration when they sometime later do their check in?

    Monitoring license usage

Hi, I want to monitor the usage of the device license with our monitoring system. However there is no REST API available to get the number of total, used and available licenses. Please implement this API, thanks. Is there another way to check the license usage until this API gets implemented?

Can you play a video file in SOTI Surf?

Aloha, I used SOTI surf as a portal to our Google drive folders. In the folders we have files for our couriers to access and view. We have a few files that are video formats .mov If we try and play it doesn't do anything. I unlocked the lockdown and accessed our google folder via google chrome and the videos played perfectly. I am assuming there is a setting in SOTI surf, in the lockdown setting or in the feature control that is preventing the video to play back. We are using Zebra TC 57, android device, enrolled as Enterprise. Any help would be appreciated. Aloha and have a beautiful day.

Can you deploy app packages in Visual Studio App Center and then deploy them to Soti? Solved

We're using Azure DevOps and App Center When testing and deploying our apps, now we're looking for a way to automate the process of deploying our apps to our MobiControlled devices. Has anyone tried this? I'd imagine I would maybe have to use the Soti API to update the package but I'm not sure if there is a better way.
