Hi. Is there any way how to send custom data from SOTI to app or can I at least determine the profile, which device is enrolled in? The use case is that I need to show some information in app according to which profile device is enrolled in. I found only one way so far, which is to assign a config file to device from profile and then read it in app, but it doesn't seem like the easiest and cleanest way to do it, and besides, app need read permissions. MobiControl version: 15.0.1.1181
Hello. I have some Samsung Galaxy tablets that were unenrolled from SOTI in the past because they were not being used by our company. We have found a use for these and re-enrolled them back into SOTI. When we go to assign the profile, we have them checked but the tablets have not received the profile yet. These are android plus devices and the profile we are wanting to assign is also android plus configuration. Could someone please help me figure this one out? are the devices too old or not compatible anymore? Is there an issue with using devices that were previously enrolled, unenrolled and factory wiped and enrolled again? all help is greatly appreciated. \
I've read other posts about this but everything I've tried to this point hasn't worked so I figured I'd open this up to the community. Here is our scenario: MobiControl Cloud instance 15.3 Android Classic device agents 15.0.1.1051 We are using Sonim XP8 devices only. Devices are used in the service industry and are locked down via lockdown screen. Devices have no access to apps outside of what is displayed on the lock down page. Yes, I've tried Android Enterprise but it doesn't work for our environment. Especially the remote assistance part where permission is required. Before Android 10 we were able to roll out APKs and silently install without issue. As we are all aware, when running some apps for the first time, users will be prompted for Location, Storage, Camera, etc. access before use. The problem is, when the device is Locked Down, users can't accept those permissions. Device admins must unlock the device, accept the permissions then lock the device. But even if the user could accept these permissions, they may tap the wrong answer making the apps useless, especially when it comes to location. How do we work around this? It is imperative that when we add or update apps, that our technicians can pick up their devices and get to work without having to deal with prompts and unlocks. If anyone can shed light on this, it would be greatly appreciated. If possible, I'd like to keep answers limited to the SOTI environment only without having to introduce 3rd party solutions mixed in.
Hi Community! I have a support case raised with SOTI on this, but thought I would reach out to the community to see if anyone else has experienced this issue so far. We have a wifi payload assigned to our devices via a profile that applies a number of wifi profiles to the devices for the various SSIDs that we have broadcasting around our sites. We also have a DHCP MAC filter applied at our sites. More recent versions of Android have MAC Randomisation functionality and in recent versions (Android 11 etc), it is enabled by default. MAC Randomisation is not suitable in our environment, due to the DHCP MAC Filter. We therefore turn this off for our Corporate SSIDs (not via MobiControl) to allow the devices to seamlessly connect to wifi via the DHCP MAC Filter. The issue we are now facing, is that Android 11 devices on the latest security patches (Details below) have Random MAC turned back on every time the device is rebooted. Random MAC is only turned back on for wifi profiles that we enforce via MobiControl payload. Any SSIDs (Known networks) on the device that are manually entered (not via MobiControl), do not have Random MAC turned on after reboot. This appears to be a bug perhaps, but not sure how to try and remediate against this. Currently, we are having to tell users of these affected devices, not to reboot them. Good Morning, I am trying to update several of our apps on our devices. I am getting a failure on some apps and it reads "Failed to install i/o error". I have tried repackaging the APK, Finding a different source for the APK and so far no luck. Is there a script available that I could include in my package build? A script to maybe uninstall the previous version of the package? I wonder if i am confusing the device on what it should install.
Hi all I've set up a photo sync for our devices which works well but ideally I'd like to prepend the file name with the device name to help identify the photos. I've tried doing this as follows... but the filename just looks like this when it syncs. %PERSONALIZED_DEVICE_NAME%IMG_20210824_144205_1.jpg I've also tried %DeviceID% %DEVICENAME% and %ENROLLEDUSER_USERNAME% but nothing seems to work. I'd appreciate any advice you could offer.
Good afternoon, We have several Zebra TC56s/TC57s that run either Android OS Version 7.1.2 or 8.1.0. Between all of them, I see several different DataWedge versions. I tried looking it up online but I cannot seem to find what determines what DataWedge version is running on these different devices or how to force update them. Is this something I can do manually or is there some sort of process I can perform to get these on the same version? These are Android Plus devices. Device Android OS and DataWedge combinations TC57 - Android 8.1.0 - DataWedge 7.4.44 TC57 - Android 8.1.0 - DataWedge 7.2.5 TC56 - Android 8.1.0 - DataWedge 7.0.4 TC56 - Android 7.1.2 - DataWedge 6.8.50 TC56 - Android 7.1.2 - DataWedge 6.8.54 Thank you!
Good day.The application does not work correctly. Decided to reinstall. One package has been removed, the second has been assigned to the device. Since then in the "pending installation" status. A week has passed since the appointment, nothing has changed How to make the application install? or where to look at what moment it stopped? Tablet Samsung SM-T585 Android 8.1
Already on the third smartphone, the application does not start Mobi Control. After installation, it loads endlessly, and then we close. How to fix it?
Please help check my configurations. I want to downlod an .ini file from server to the Android devices. I have tried below two ways : Device File / Folder Name: %sdcard%/Download/ ; Server File / Folder Name : %ROOT%\test\text.ini Device File / Folder Name: %sdcard%/Download/ ; Server File / Folder Name : C:\test\ Android 9 Agent Version : 14.4.6 Build 1001 SOTI Mobicontrol : 15.3.0.6711
I must be missing something obvious here. I have a test Android Plus device (Samsung ELM v14.4 agent) running in lockdown mode. I have security settings requiring an alphanumeric password. We are looking at using this on 1 group of devices. Assuming the device is locked, and being that the password is set by the user, how am I supposed to remote control the device when the user isn't logged in? I won't know the password, when I try to unlock it prompts me for it. I know I can remove the password but this then means the user has to set it again. Even when I do remove the password, when the user tries to set it again, while is user mode the user will be told they cannot change the password due to device permissions. I expect I must be doing something wrong, setting something wrong as it seems unnecessarily clunky and not thought out on how this operates at the moment.
Hi, We have an app requiring an update of Google Play Services, but have no managed google play account on the device. Is their a way to administratively solve the google play services update i.e. install apk directly, pushing dummy gmail account etc..? Thanks!
Hello everybody, I have now dealt with the Android Lockdown notifications and what can I say it works. The Icon on the lockdown screen has nas a red number in the upper right corner. But unfortunately it is not what I wish for! I would like a large pop-up window with the notification pop up or bring me directly to the dialog box. According to a colleague of mine, he has already done it before but he no longer knows how. Its a Android Plus Device with Mobicontrol Agent 14.4.2 and Android 5.1
I see this AE & AP options in Mobicontrol in the below scenarios and gets very confused on what to choose and on what basis. Let me start from the scratch. Assume that i have 2 types of devices, a Symbol MC32NO & another Honeywell CT60, both are already using devices (not brand new) and both are company owned devices. In this case , can you please help me to choose the correct options in the below scenarios and explain why ?. 1. While creating an enrollment rule - When we choose the google account, which option to be selected ?. 2. Mobicontrol Agent Download - which option to be selected for AE, whch options to be selcted for AE ?.3. Device Enrollment - For AE, i have to factory reset and use afw#mobicontrol hashtag. In this case device should have internet connection, Please confirm or correct me if ia m wrong. In case i want to use Mobicontrol without internet, then i should have internet during this enrollment process and then later it can work without internet connection. Please confirm or correct me if ia m wrong. During this process, agent gets downloaded. This agent is device specific or it is the generic one that is available in playstore ?. 4. Profile Creation - 4 options here (Screenshot attached). which option to be selected for AE, whch options to be selcted for AE ?. 5. Finally AP management in Global settings - SOTI help has described it very clearly . So once i am clear about which type of enrollments (AE or AP or both )are needed for me, then i believe will be able to choose this settings easily. Btw why it is called Android "Plus" management ?. Also i wonder why the rule creation page shows the Android platform name as Android "Plus".
