Hi everyone, A user has forgotten the screen lock PIN. We try to force a new PIN from the mobicontrol console, but the device does not contact the server. Mobicontrol app may be in power saving mode. We are using a SIM with the PIN disabled to access the Internet (we have 4G/5G coverage). What can we do? Device: SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Active 3 (SM-T575) qith Android 13 and 15.4.3.1054 agent version Server version: 15.1.5.1005 Regards
I work for a library where we lend out tablets to our patrons. I get them back at the end of the lending period and wipe data from them for the next patron to borrow. The issue is that recently I've gotten two devices returned; one locked behind a pin and another with a password set and I can't get into them.. I initially called Soti support and they told me I had the correct settings set that should block this; using kiosk/lockdown mode with an authentication rule with a password set. And since I have the ‘factory reset” option blocked by Mobicontrol I can’t factory reset the device.. Soti support couldn’t help me further. Fortunately for the pin I was able to contact the patron and they told me the pin. I asked them how they set the pin and they said they didn't know. Saying maybe it was by pairing the tablet with their phones. With a same model test tablet that run the same profile as the ones we lend out I ran a test, pairing my smartphone with the tablet but afte trying it several times I didn't find any way that triggered or prompted me to set a pin so I don't know how they did that. The second one where it's asking for a password, the patron's phone number isn't working and I don't think I can get a hold of them easily to ask. The device at present isn't on wifi so no Mobicontrol cloud connection and I can't do anything with it without it asking for a password, including power cycling it. I have two questions: Is there another setting(s) I need to enable/disable to block this type of thing from happening again? Let me know if you know what else I should adjust in the profile for our devices to prevent this from happening again. Any other tips for accessing the password protected tablet? I’m thinking if I can’t get the password from the patron then it's stuck.. But I’d thought I’d ask in case I’m missing something I could do/try. What I have set on these devices: -They're locked in kiosk/lockdown mode with an authentication rule and password set (password policy type disable lockscreen). -We’re using android enterprise and these are work managed devices provisioned/enabled with a managed google play accounts. -The password protected tablet is using agent v15.4.6.1013 and the tablet itself is a Galaxy Tab S5e (all our tablets are this model) -I have the factory reset blocked in feature control (the idea was I wanted to keep knowledgeable end users from wiping/stealing our devices..) Thanks for your time.
Hi all, So I am currently working on updating our Honeywell CK65's OS versions with zero touch for end users. My issue is that when the device updates you are required to put an Android Pin when the device turns back on. Is there a script to bypass the need of putting the pin in? Thank you
Hello, One of my projects uses Samsung tablets. I need to configure certificates with a SOTI profile. A configuration with a SOTI certificates imposes an password for screen lock. Is it possible to bypass this requirement ? For example ZEBRA bypasses this obligation. For information I use a Samsung Active PRO tablet Android version : 11Agent Version : AE 15.1.2.1075Console Version : 15.4
We have around 2600 Samsung A10S devices with Android Enterprise Agent. Since such devices has been upgraded to Android 10 and Android 11, we have faced a raising cases of devices locked by a unknown PIN. As the devices are no longer being connected, we are not being able to reset its PIN. In all the cases end user swears that they have not requested t change the PIN. Looking in the device log, we may see records regarding PIN changed, only when we send it by a script from the console. We have created an schedule task, running at each 2 hours, to set the PIN back again and we could hold the cases a bit. We are trying to identify what and when the PIN is changed, to check if it is a virus case or something alike. Have anyone faced such PIN change by no command on Samsung A10S ?
Hi, it's possible to obtain data from custom attributes and send a script to device? like this: On SOTI server have set this custom attributes on each device set manual her own PIN code and by script send: resetpassword %CustomAttr:PIN% -bypass_secure_startup but dosn't work, is blocked by default or custom attributes is used for other pourposes? If I send this script showmessagebox %SERIALNUM% It works and show me this macro, but don't work with custom attributes
Hello, When adding Ipad devices to our soti environment we make sure we select the passcode option in the Apple Device enrollment Program options, present in the device enrollment rule. When we start up the device for the first time, it asks to set up a pin code. After a reboot, certain devices still ask for the PIN, some other devices no longer require the PIN to start and only a swipe unlocks the iPad. Any config we missed? Thanks
We have Zebra TC-57 devices in my company. We plan on installing certificates on all of our devices. Certificates on android require device to have Device Authentication setup. SOTI allows via profile Enable Password Enforcement. But I really don't want to allow our users to setup their own PIN, since devices are shared with multiple users. Since PIN is easiest to setup how to enforce that only specific one is used on all devices or is there some other way to allow certificates to work without Authentication that require user input?
Hi all, we have found following problem: We set a device pin with script during device enrollment. Now something strange/bad is happening. If the device is locked (standby etc.) and you delete the device in Soti. The device gets a rollback (correct). But if you now want to unlock the phone, it's impossible because the pin request is still there but no Pin will be accepted. In my opinion there should be only 2 cases: - old Pin or - no Pin request
Hello, is it possible to disable the secure startup pin with a script? My Problem is that when setting a Pin with DeviceConfig (Honeywell CT40) it also activates secure startup, the pin itself is needed for certificate installation but the secure startup is really hindering tasks that initiate any kind of reboot on the device.
Hey Guy's, we're actually working with Zebra Devices on Android Nougat (7.1.2) very successfull. All new Devices and also the old one's had to be upgraded to Oreo in the future in Case of security Updates etc. Unfortunately we're not using a PIN or Pattern so far and on Android Nougat it works great. But when I join an Oreo Device, it has to be set up with a Device PIN or Pattern to work correctly. In our specific Case no Certificate for Wifi e.g. can be pushed to device. Also other stuff like mxconfig Things wont work until we set up a PIN on the Device. Is there any Chance to get Oreo running without the need of a PIN on the Device? many thanks PS: Were using MobiControl 13.4.0.5074, Agent Version 14.0.0.1579 in DoA Mode, Zebra TC20 & TC51 / TC52 Devices
It seems that, if you want to deploy a certificate (using a Certificate configuration in a Policy), you also have to deploy an Authentication policy, according to the warning shown below: So we created an Authentication Policy too, and it surprises us to see that it's not necessary to define a User Password Policy. The 'Device Administrator Password' setting is enough. Is this logical? Because, when installing a certificate on a non-MobiControl-managed device (plain, out-of-the-box Android), one must configure a pincode on the device before a certificate can be installed... SOTI Support has been contacted & have indicated to us that 'if it's working for you right now, it will be ok', but I'm interested in the deeper philosophy behind the above... ;)
hey guys, we have a lot of devices enrolled in android plus. we use a kiosk (lockdown screen) to display approved apps, including email. my question is, is there a way for the user to protect his device with a pin code or pattern lock with soti? if so, in the event of the employee leaving the company and returning the device, is there a way for me to bypass or remove the pin through SOTI MobiControl? Thanks in advance!
Hello - I have set an AFW auth policy to require a pin code on our Samsung Active Tab 2's - However it's not prompting on the devices to set a pin when its applied. If I look at the device in MobiControl it shows as "PIN Set - Yes". It's not however. I'm using the Android Enterprise Agent, not sure if that makes any difference?
Hey Guys, we want to set up a Pin-Code to unlock all of our Devices (Zebra TC20 + TC51). Here's the Serverside config: As you can see, we only want a Pin without alphabetic characters. Unfortunately our Endpoints showing up this (wants min. one alphabetic character): Also other options like pattern wants a password with numeric an alphabetic characters. How can we set up only a PIN on our devices? Any suggestions? Why seems MC not allow any other options than password? Thank you!
