Disable Location tracking on Smartphone

Hello,

we manage all of our Smartphone android devices with MobiControl.

This is our current setting "Allow User to Configure".

The problem is we are technically able to track the exact location of the smartphone and we are not allowed to be able to track them...

Can we turn the tracking off somehow that they can only use GPS for navigation like google maps?

They also should still be able to turn off and on the location on smartphone and not completely block it through mobicontrol, because if I use "GPS only" they can not turn it off on the smartphone.

I believe Google will be tracking your device location if Google map app is allowed to get location from your device hardware.

As long as MobiControl administrator do not add any data-collection rule involving location or initiate any "locate" related actions, no tracking that infringes privacy of device end-user will be performed by the device agent.

If your end-user or your company management are very concerned, the following can further be done:

1.Go to apps manager in device Settings and disable location permission of MobiControl device agent.  (This can be OEM and firmware version specfic, and thus you likely need to do test on each of your device model(s) to confirm that there won't be annoying prompts to device end-users to re-grant the removed "location" permission).

2. Disable adminstrator's permissions to use "locate" action and data-collection rule, so that related options are not visible in the web-console any more.

Thank you for posting on SOTI Pulse!

Did you try the suggestions provided by Raymond? If yes, were you able to achieve what you were looking for?If not, I would suggest testing this on 1 or 2 devices first to check if you are achieving what you are looking for.
