    ADB intents - script commands

Hi! Is there some way of issuing an adb shell intent command to a device running MobiControl to issue a script on the device? Does MobiControl have an intent receiver? The reason for this is that we have devices with a crashing agent as soon as we exit the lockdown manually, the devices are offline and can't be put online again so we want to be able to send script notify kiosk off to the devices.

    Application Catalog

Is there a way with the application catalog to have the apps automatically installed during the provision process vs. having to press the install button?  This is for Zebra and Unitech devices, would make it a lot easier for remote provisioning.

    Disable Lock Screen Apps

Android 8.1.0 on a Samsung TAB A added lock screen applications. I'd like to write a script to disable the applications but when i checked the setting with watch settings it's a multipart value with each part separated by a ; Custom log (URI:content://settings/system SETTING:lock_application_shortcut VALUE:0;com.android.chrome/com.google.android.apps.chrome.Main;0;com.sec.android.app.camera/com.sec.android.app.camera.Camera;) Custom log (URI:content://settings/system SETTING:lock_application_shortcut VALUE:0;com.android.chrome/com.google.android.apps.chrome.Main;1;com.sec.android.app.camera/com.sec.android.app.camera.Camera;) There is a right and left application, the first part of the value is to turn the function on or off, the second part is the application location, the third part is the left or right location, and i think the 4th part is icon used. I've tried several variations of write secure setting but nothing seems to work. I've listed the variations used below. writesecuresetting lock_application_shortcut 0 writesecuresetting lock_application_shortcut 0 0 writesecuresetting lock_application_shortcut 0 0 0 0 writesecuresetting lock_application_shortcut 0;0;0;0 writesecuresetting lock_application_shortcut 0,0,0,0 writesecuresetting lock_application_shortcut 0;com.android.chrome/com.google.android.apps.chrome.Main;1;com.sec.android.app.camera/com.sec.android.app.camera.Camera; I also tried a few variations with the full string uses spaces and commas and nothing worked.

How to configure granular device settings upon enrollment (beyond what Stage can do)

I am looking for a way to completely configure all Android device settings upon enrollment. I have just begun to explore Enterprise enrollment but ave been looking during my last 4 years using Android Plus to save time when bringing new or reset devices into our cloud instance. Enterprise enrollment is a good start, with mandatory apps and what is afforded in the feature control profile, but I need to be able to set the following types of things for each tablet, and they all must be done manually at this point (for Samsung Tab S4): Connections/Wifi/Advanced: Disable "switch to mobile data" and "turn on wifi automatically" Sounds and Vibrations/Sound mode: set to mute Sounds and Vibrations/Sound mode: set vibration intensity to zero for notifications and feedback Display: Set screen mode to "Basic" Display: set timeout to 10 minutes Display: Navigation bar set to hide Lock screen: set to lock after 5 minutes, disable lock with power key There are about 25 settings in all that must be set, these are just some examples. I had been hoping for some way to "clone" a device's settings and apply it to other devices upon enrollment or via profile. I have tried using Android backup but that option is grayed out on my devices. Under Settings-->Google I see that "Backup" is toggled off, I can toggle it on but it always reverts back to "off". This is a managed device, enrolled using afw#mobicontrol at initialization, so maybe a device can't backup settings that would be shared by all other devices enrolled into that enterprise? I have looked at zero touch enrollment and it doesn't seem to offer the level of customization needed. In the past SOTI support has provided me with scripts to disable Dex mode and to prohibit the Max Power Save option, is there a way to reveal what the underlying commands and syntax would be for each item under Settings? Then I could script this myself. I would appreciate any advice or direction the group might have. I learn so much from lurking on this forum, and am grateful for any help. Kind regards, Matt

Multiple Zebra TC51 Devices Getting Same Device ID

I can enroll one of the Zebra TC51 devices, but under the device details tab the Device ID field is "020000000000". I'm not able to enroll more than one device as it will try to use the same Device ID for any of the devices I try to enroll. What am I missing here? StageNow and Android Enterprise

Hi, I would be interested in learning more about the role of the Zebra StageNow app when a device is enrolled using the afw#mobicontrol method. One of our clients has been using StageNow to configure their Zebra TC20 devices, and are now evaluating Soti MobiControl. The StageNow app seems to become disabled when the devices are reset and enrolled, i.e. StageNow is visible in the app list but is labelled as "stagenow not installed for this user". Is this a behaviour which is by design? I.e. once a device has been enrolled into Soti MobiControl, should you not use the StageNow app? Should we try to enable the StageNow app using enable_system_app (if so, what is the bundle ID?), or should we look into other methods? Regards, Daníel

Can I automate package studio? Solved

Is it possible to script package studio to automatically build a package.  I can automate uploading and editing profiles via the API, but I can't find a way to use package studio with a command line to build a new package.  Am I missing something?

    Android 9 and Lockdown

Hi We have a small selection of Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 devices that have been upgraded to Android 9 (Pie) (there's another thread asking how I stop the upgrade and that has been resolved). These devices have been enrolled via Android Enterprise and are running agent version 13.7.3.1045  Our servers is on 14.1.4.1693 The devices have Kiosk Mode enabled (it's a legacy thing, don't judge).  Can anyone think of a reason why when the user clicks on MobiControl from the kiosk screen it will not open (goes black screen then returns to the kioskscreen).  If you administratively remove the kiosk then MobiControl opens as normal when clicked on and the users can access content manager.   The app name is set up correctly in the Kiosk Mode settings and works properly on Android 7 and 8.1. All suggestions welcome. Eddie

Managed Config for SOTI Stage Programmer

Is there any ability to leverage Managed Configs or an external config file for the Stage Programmer application? I would like to provision a fleet of deployed COSU devices with a pre-configured Stage Programmer application that could then be used to provision any devices that come back from repair that need to be re-enrolled or even net new devices being added to the inventory. It would be ideal to be able to pre-configure that application so that we don't need to share staging WiFi details or the enrollment ID with anyone in the facility. I picture a Managed Configuration provisioning the application with all of the details and then obscuring the details automatically from any end users who launch the app.

Blocking Android Firmware Update Solved Locked

Hi,  I have some Samsung Tab Active 2 devices currently on Android 8.1 which will start to receive updates for Android 9.  I don't want them to do this as our app (loaded via package & profile) has not been tested on this version. The question of how to block an OS update has been asked before via this link and an example was given for set_system_update_policy , which I have applied.  My question is: didn't there not used to be an option within Feature Control to stop all firmware updates?  And if anyone has any other tips to stop the updates through MobiControl I'm all ears. Password does not conform to password policy

I'm trying to install MobiControl agent on Samsung Galaxy Tab e.  I have this profile on 31 other tablets, with no issue.  Now when I try installing to new tablet, it appears to install successfully until I get to this message: Password policy pending - Password does not conform to password policy Password requirement - new password must be specified that meets the following criteria: must be at least four characters, requires numeric characters. In profile, authentication, I have a four digit code for the admin password. I have to perform a hard reset because security policy prevents changing settings, so I'm unable to go to settings to do a factory reset.  Tried different versions of MobiControl agent, they all do the same thing.  It is partially installed because I'm able to see it in my list of devices, and I'm able to remote control it. I had this issue a while back when trying to install a newer version of the agent (13.6), but then backed down to 13.5.1 and it was fine. This issue I'm having now started after I cloned the profile to make a separate but similar profile to another group of tablets.  I installed the agent using the new enrollment username and password so that it receives the new profile.  When I received the password policy error, I tried again with other agent versions, but same result.  After the last hard reset, I installed the original profile using the original enrollment username/password.  Now that is getting to the same spot (Password policy error) and I can't continue.  I know the four digit code works, because I tested it on a working tablet.  I don't know how modifying the clone profile affected the original profile, but somehow it did.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
