I am trying to update Chorme on Zebra TC7* devices. I have enrolled the devices in an account with Google Play. I setup Chrome and Adobe Acrobat to be updated by Google Play Acrobat updates..... Chrome does not. Device : Zebra TC75x OS: Oreo 8.1 Enrollment: AEDO Agent Version: 15.1.3.1071 Console Version: 15.3.3.1065 I have opened a ticket with SOTI and have not received any valuable information towards resolving this. Has anyone run into this. Thanks, Jim
Hi, one of our clients wants to be able to deploy APN settings to their TC26 (with Android 10) devices using Soti. They are getting the error "Feature is not supported(APN)" when trying to deploy this setting to a device of this type, but if they try to do the same thing for a Lenovo tablet which also runs Android 10, it works. Has anyone seen anything similar?
Hi, Customer has TC26 devices on Android 11. Enrolling via Zero Touch into Mobicontrol 15.5 Enrollment is fine and Mobicontrol works well, however, when I send a wipe command to the device, I expect it should wipe, start back up and re-enroll with Zero Touch. However, the behaviour seems to be that the device thinks it's already managed by Mobicontrol but still goes through the Zero Touch setup screens. This then fails and asks be to restart the device. So alternatively, I tested factory resetting the device with Zebra Factory reset file and script. This however leads the device to not follow Zero Touch at all until the device is at the Anroid Homescreen, at which point the device gets the normal Zero Touch message about being managed and needing to factory reset in 1 hour to get the device under managment. In Summary, wiping an enrolled TC26 on Android 11 does not show a desired or expected behaviour. Has anyone else experienced this who could advise what I should be doing differently? Happy to provide more info where required. Cheers
Hi According to Zebra there are changes on Android 11+ in regards of applying XML configurations. But how can we deploy a setting without using OEMConfig? Where is StageNow version able to generate a JS?
We are experiencing a but of a challenge. Basically it's a deployment with mc3300r. They are using remote desktop access via the Android App. However the soft-keyboard is removed by stagenow, because this will fill out the majority of their screen whenever the click a cell. Problem: They can't scan on the device because when we remove the keyboard, then Keystroke output from Datawedge wont work. Can we: 1) Configure Datawedge to send data via intents to the remote desktop application. 2) Can we maybe remote the google virtual keyboard and install Enterprise Keyboard instead and continue using keystroke output for scanning? - It is important that Enterprise Keyboard will remain suppressed also when hitting cells in the remote desktop app, until activated by a hw-button etc. Any suggestions are much appreciated:-)
We just moved some TC75x devices from Android 7.1.2 to 8.1.0 and because of that I had to change the lockdown mode from native to activity suppression so the user can see the top bar. We are having an issue where every once and a while when pressing the yellow scan button, it is opening the recent application list and then kicks the user to the kiosk. I thought this was tied to Android 8 but it is also happening on our 7 devices where I made the lockdown change. Has anyone else experienced this?
This issue is similar to https://discussions.soti.net/discussions/zebra-tc21-devices-not-responsive-when-remotely-controlled but the provided solution did not work for me. I reference this link in my text below. I encountered the same issue with my TC26:s recently (essentially the same device as TC21, but with WLAN). The remote screen is black, showing a digital clock and a lock. Sending notify kiosk off did disable the kiosk, but the remote control session did not show this - still black screen. While I did have issues with plugins, the mentioned scripts did not help. At first I was unable to start remote control at all. Web version was only white, legacy version said "Waiting for device" or similar. I had the plugin "RC Virtual Display" and no matter what I did it stayed like this. I had to assign the mentioned plugin to a profile, UNASSIGN IT, and then it worked - now I got "Zebra RC" plugin and remote session started working. However, I now face the black screen issue. To bypass the black screen I have to change the zoom level to Fit Screen, then send the Device Menu action from the RC interface. Now the screen is unlocked and I can view it as expected. Any ideas on how to fix this permanently? Other devices do not have this issue, only my TC26:s. Hello We are using Zebra TC21 scanners, that we lock down via device control with authentication policy as disable lock screen As these are in production environments the supervisors have the admin password to unlock the scanners so they can perform a data storage clear of a Dynamics NAV app that occasionally goes haywire. My question is how can I set a timer that automatically reenables the agent mode after a set time or can I run a script that will re-enable it, as the supervisors sometimes forget? additionally is there a script to clear the storage for a given installed application? any help would be appreciated.
We are trying to build Web Apps that we can deploy through MobiControl but setup in Managed Google Play but the section that is used for the Web Apps is missing. On the support article provided by Google, they mention getting in contact with your EMM provider but word is one of our guys just setup the account so I am not sure where to go from here to get this enabled.
Hello Soti Forum, we have quite a few Zebra MC33 in use. Previously, these were delivered with Android 8, but in the past there were problems with the connection to Soti. For this reason, a downgrade to Android 7.1.2 was made at that time before installation. In the meantime, the installations with Android 8 have mostly worked again, but we now have 80 devices that still have an Android 7.1.2. Can you tell me what the best method would be to upgrade these devices as stress-free as possible for us and the users? I don't like to send users a list of barcodes where they set the device with to factory settings, etc.At best, they should be aware of the upgrade as little as possible. I just found out, that there is a button for "Migrate to Android Enterprise" + I have found 'This is possible with Zebra Android devices. You'll need to first transfer the firmware files to the device via a Package or a File Sync Rule. install_system_update /sdcard/YOURUPDATE.zip' Sounds not so bad. A best practise solution would be helpful then 🙂 Is there a script that can be sent to the device to install the update and at best not reset everything? I would be very grateful for any tips. Cheers Maik
Hello Community, since we Updated our Zebra Devices (MC3300x and TC52) we can't access the /sdcard/Android/data Folder. It seerms that it's a "feature" of Android 11. My problem is that we are using Wavelink Velocity. The Config Files (.wldep) are stored in /sdcard/Android/data/com.wavelink.velocity/files When I try to push the files with Soti or also Stagenow to the device I get an error, cause I have no permissions to access the folder. The devices are enrolled in Android enterprise mode. Is anybody in the same situation or have a solution? Thanks for your help and creative ideas! Best regards Julian
These are for use in a warehouse and will just provide velocity access for inventory and possibly push to talk functionality
Hej, we are using Zebra MC32 (Windows CE7) in our warehouse and changed the App (Velocity CE -> mobisys) for working in this week. Unfortunately the new App has no settings for configurating the loudness of the (positiv) scanner read, so it is at maximum volume - the old app had a setting for that. Normally you can use the Zebra DataWedge for this issue but the scanner is used by a plugin of new app and so the Data Wedge is Idle (disabled). Is there a possibility to change the volume of the scanner beep (normal windows volume wouldn't effect anything). Thank you in advance Cheers Jens
Hi, We operate Zebra TC57 handhelds managed using Mobicontrol. The Zebra handhelds come with a default phone dialer app - org.codeaurora.dialer Our handhelds are really well locked down (using the various Mobicontrol and StageNow features) except when this dialer is invoked for incoming/outgoing phone calls. The app allows the user to get out to things like bluetooth share, mms messaging, file system, web browser, camera, video, slide show etc. While we could try and disable each of undesired functions the dialer gives access to (for example SOTI Surf is stopping the user's unauthorized browser access), it would be really good to instead provide a really basic phone dialer to make and receive calls. I haven't been able to find anything suitable. Has anyone has any success in loading an alternative basic phone/dialer?, or has any other ideas on locking these functions away from the user? Many thanks, Lindsay Background information- Zebra TC57's are operating standard 4G mobile phone connections (not SIP) Zebra OS is Android 10 GMS (GMS Restricted Mode) (10-16-10 LG90) Mobicontrol client 14.5.4.1016 server 14.2.1.4394 Default phone app - Phone org.codeaurora.dialer v23.0 Use Case- Grocery delivery drivers running locked-down Zebra TC57s, primarily running a delivery & mapping application but occasionally needing to make/receive calls.
Hello, I'm having trouble entering admin mode on most of my devices. I have a lock down profile applied and when I go to enter admin mode, MobiControl with just show a prompt that says "Switching to admin mode" and will never exit. The only way I can get out of lock down mode is by sending commands from the web console. However, I would like to be able to do this from the device, because sometimes I need to make changes on the fly and don't always have a computer with me. Has anyone came across this issue before? If so, how did you fix it? I have listed my MobiControl version and device's information below. MobiControl Version: 15.3.0.6713 Device Information Model: Zebra VC80x Operating System: Android 8.0.1 Build: 02-32-04.00-OG-U20-STD (GMS) MobiControl Agent Version: 14.5.4 Build 1016 (Android Enterprise) Plugin Version: 1.6.0.102 Mode: Work Managed Device (Device Owner) MobiControl has all permissions enabled.
