Hi! When we use the script "resetpassword xxxx" on our TC56 devices running on Android 7+ we also get the setting for PIN on device boot enabled. When setting this manually we get the question if we want to use the PIN even for device boot. Is it possible for MobiControl to not set the PIN for device boot as well?
https://docs.soti.net/mobicontrolagentdownloads/ I'm after 13.4 for testing purposes.
How can I not prompt the user to “Please give Write Settings permission” when sending the following script: writesecuresetting -sys hide_rotation_lock_toggle_for_accessibility 1 writesecuresetting -sys accelerometer_rotation 0 Using AEDO on the TC52 and TC20.
Is there any way to open Chrome without the address bar via a Lockdown screen on Android Enterprise (OS 8.1.0) devices? Our self-service payroll portal will only allow the download of pdf timesheets in Chrome on our Android Enterprise devices (long story, already looked at in Surf by SOTI devs) but we still want to use SOTI Surf for the rest of our URLs. I know the below intent works fine with this url on our devices: intent://randompayrollwebsite.com#Intent;scheme=https;package=com.android.chrome;end The issue we have is that the address bar is shown and engineers have access to other websites using the tabs which we'd rather not have as we use web filters categories in SOTI Surf. I have tested the website using the standard browser (eg. adding https://randompayrollwebsite.com to the lockdown screen) and the SOTI Surf browser and neither of these will open the pdfs via the website. Other pdfs open fine in Surf and we have the Adobe Reader package in our Lockdown profiles. The only solution I can think of is adding a 'Web Filter' profile to block all other websites, but the issue with this solution is that the engineers would then be unable to open URLs in Gmail (as Gmail is now the default Exchange email provider in Android Enterprise and the 'Open Web links in Gmail' option is set by default in the Gmail app). Unless there is a way to unset the 'Open Web links in Gmail' as default via SOTI, but I couldn't see this as an option anywhere? If there is another intent that could help I would love to hear it. Thanking you in advance.
I am looking for a way to completely configure all Android device settings upon enrollment. I have just begun to explore Enterprise enrollment but ave been looking during my last 4 years using Android Plus to save time when bringing new or reset devices into our cloud instance. Enterprise enrollment is a good start, with mandatory apps and what is afforded in the feature control profile, but I need to be able to set the following types of things for each tablet, and they all must be done manually at this point (for Samsung Tab S4): Connections/Wifi/Advanced: Disable "switch to mobile data" and "turn on wifi automatically" Sounds and Vibrations/Sound mode: set to mute Sounds and Vibrations/Sound mode: set vibration intensity to zero for notifications and feedback Display: Set screen mode to "Basic" Display: set timeout to 10 minutes Display: Navigation bar set to hide Lock screen: set to lock after 5 minutes, disable lock with power key There are about 25 settings in all that must be set, these are just some examples. I had been hoping for some way to "clone" a device's settings and apply it to other devices upon enrollment or via profile. I have tried using Android backup but that option is grayed out on my devices. Under Settings-->Google I see that "Backup" is toggled off, I can toggle it on but it always reverts back to "off". This is a managed device, enrolled using afw#mobicontrol at initialization, so maybe a device can't backup settings that would be shared by all other devices enrolled into that enterprise? I have looked at zero touch enrollment and it doesn't seem to offer the level of customization needed. In the past SOTI support has provided me with scripts to disable Dex mode and to prohibit the Max Power Save option, is there a way to reveal what the underlying commands and syntax would be for each item under Settings? Then I could script this myself. I would appreciate any advice or direction the group might have. I learn so much from lurking on this forum, and am grateful for any help. Kind regards, Matt
Hi, I would be interested in learning more about the role of the Zebra StageNow app when a device is enrolled using the afw#mobicontrol method. One of our clients has been using StageNow to configure their Zebra TC20 devices, and are now evaluating Soti MobiControl. The StageNow app seems to become disabled when the devices are reset and enrolled, i.e. StageNow is visible in the app list but is labelled as "stagenow not installed for this user". Is this a behaviour which is by design? I.e. once a device has been enrolled into Soti MobiControl, should you not use the StageNow app? Should we try to enable the StageNow app using enable_system_app (if so, what is the bundle ID?), or should we look into other methods? Regards, Daníel
Hi We have a small selection of Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 devices that have been upgraded to Android 9 (Pie) (there's another thread asking how I stop the upgrade and that has been resolved). These devices have been enrolled via Android Enterprise and are running agent version 13.7.3.1045 Our servers is on 14.1.4.1693 The devices have Kiosk Mode enabled (it's a legacy thing, don't judge). Can anyone think of a reason why when the user clicks on MobiControl from the kiosk screen it will not open (goes black screen then returns to the kioskscreen). If you administratively remove the kiosk then MobiControl opens as normal when clicked on and the users can access content manager. The app name is set up correctly in the Kiosk Mode settings and works properly on Android 7 and 8.1. All suggestions welcome. Eddie
Is there any ability to leverage Managed Configs or an external config file for the Stage Programmer application? I would like to provision a fleet of deployed COSU devices with a pre-configured Stage Programmer application that could then be used to provision any devices that come back from repair that need to be re-enrolled or even net new devices being added to the inventory. It would be ideal to be able to pre-configure that application so that we don't need to share staging WiFi details or the enrollment ID with anyone in the facility. I picture a Managed Configuration provisioning the application with all of the details and then obscuring the details automatically from any end users who launch the app.
One of my supervisors in the field has reported that workers are getting past the lockdown kiosk by constantly hitting the recent apps button on the device. He claims that they have been able to get into areas that allow them to make phone calls and send text messages. I have been able to duplication the problem partially. When "pounding recent apps button" I have gotten an app that was in the background to stay in the foreground. While I am still skeptical about the functions they have reported getting into, I am still researching. If the Kiosk can be bypassed this easily, then it is not much good. Thoughts? My Problem is, that my Device says the Package is Installed. The Thing is I don´t find it on the device or in the app. It´s the first time Im trying this out, thats why I took an apk document from the phone, put it in Package Studio and then add it to the Packages. At the end I did a Profile with the Package inside and connecting it to the one device Im trying on. After that Im tried to Force reinstall, but now it stucks in that mode. So how can I install the App corectly that it really Install the Package and dont just says I did it and he didnt done it?
Web filter Restriction does not work in "Chrome v74.0.3729.157" with "Android Enterprise Agent 13.7.2.1015" Android OS v7.0
Hi, I'm trying connect a Zebra TC77 to a handsfree kit and it's not pairing. I've tried connecting the device to my laptop and my laptop produces a prompt for me to check matches on the device but on the device the is no prompt presented. Any suggestions? Thanks Josh.
Hi, we are trying to programmatically set the mobile apn on huawei P20 lite using AE agent. The solutions we explored are 2: MobiControl Stage: It fails the apn configuration giving an error. MobiContro 14.2 (cloud edition): We set the apn setting action in a profile, the agent on the devices reports a correct installation but the new apn is not installed on the devices. Is a bug ? Are we missing something ? Best regards, Paolo
In the Windows CE world, I always manually controlled when my applications updated in MobiControl by moving devices to new release folders. Yeah, I know that is not how most installations do it. I did this for several reasons. The first devices I managed (Psion 7530/7535s) were highly unreliable on their installations. Under Windows CE the executable sizes were small and finally I found the scheduling in the early versions of MobiControl to be unreliable with Windows CE. Now I am diving into the Android world with both feet due to the shutdown of 3G Cell. While it seems Android is more reliable about installations, the install size of the applications is huge compared to Windows CE and let's not talk about patch sizes. My issue is that my devices are very often stored in areas that contain a lot of concrete and steel which by nature makes cell connections hit and miss. All devices are supposed to be put in networked cradles every night, but we all know how that goes :-/. So I have come to the conclusion that I NEED to evaluate methods of utilizing the options within MobiControl that allow for a scheduled delivery. What I would like to accomplish is to have a profile with the new versions of my applications get pre-staged on the device and then when the time comes that I what them installed, the installation gets triggered and the installation happens quickly. I thought I had figured it out and attempted to set up an install using scheduled profiles for tonight. What a mess! Fortunately I am still in the the 100+ devices, but over the next month I will be sitting with over 1000 devices. Since the Agile development is going on, everyone things that we can have deployments every two weeks...... in my opinion not a pretty site. My problem tonight what that I had Profile A with version 1 of the app and I attempted to assign Profile B with version 2 of the app. I set an install date far into the future as I only wanted the apps to download but not install. My plan was to replace Profile B with a Clone of Profile B without the schedule associated with it. I didn't get to first base as Profile B failed because it said the a version of the application already existed on the device. I thought I had this whole thing worked out in my Dev environment. So, I am looking for advise, how are others accomplishing this. My applications are line of business applications and the versions that are supported are tightly controlled by the development teams (they rarely support more than 1 version). Environment: MobiControl 14.1.2 Agent: 13.6.0.1662 Android Management: AEDO Device: Zebra TC77 Locked down in Kiosk Mode Shared by multiple users Any advise appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
Does anyone have documentation on the format of Zebra / SOTI .upl file? I would like to do several Android patches at one time and am trying to user an .upl file. The issue I have is that I am not storing the patches on the root of the SDCARD but in /SDCARD/Patches. I am not quite sure how to correctly specify the path. Thoughts? Thanks.
