Android 13 and 14 Samsung Devices - Black screen on RC despite blindly entering PIN

Hi All I can see lots of posts regarding remote control stays black on Android 13 and 14 Samsung devices and generally the advice is to start your RC session, once connected to the device it will show a black screen, use Page Up on your keyboard, followed by the PIN (you won't see it on screen) followed by enter and you will then be able to see the screen. This method works fine for android 12 and 15 devices, but not for android 13 and 14. The android 13 and 14 devices just can't be woken remotely - has anyone got any extra tips or know if an agent is available to support this function. In the past we've just been told this is just the way android 13 and 14 are, but since it is still in support and these are still supported devices (the OS can't be upgraded) then has there been any fixes or workarounds? The test device in question is SM-G780F (max OS is 13) We have Samsung on android 12 and typing the PIN on black screen is fine We have Samsung on android 14 and it has the same issue as android 13 - can't get past the black screen even after typing PIn in blind. We have Samsungs on android 15 and no issues. Any advice appreciated, but please note what I have already tried above and the comparison between android 12 and 15 above. Many Thanks

Zebra Devices On Android 13 Locked Out

We have 2000+ Zebra TCXX devices, and we are migrating from Android 10 to Android 13.  When Android 13 devices boot up, they do not come online in Soti until the user enters the 6-digit PIN.  Our users are bad about remembering their PIN and we cannot send a PIN change command now, since the device is offline. We also have an issue supporting devices now.  If we need to send a device restart command to the device, we now no longer are able to remote in or send scripts until the user interacts with the device (enters the PIN). These are all company owned devices using Android Enterprise. How do we resolve this issue and get devices online BEFORE the user enters the PIN?

Gboard missing after migration Android 13 on ZEBRA

Hello, Following a migration from Android 11 to Android 13 on ZEBRA model TC21 terminals, some have lost the virtual keyboard. The virtual keyboard is no longer available from any application (Chrome, system, ...). During my first production runs, 5/63 terminals had this problem. When I view the list of applications from the mobicontrol device file, I see that my failed terminals have two versions of the Gboard app: “com.google.android.inputmethod.latin” which is in the ‘uninstalled’ state “com.android.inputmethod.latin”, which is in the ‘installed’ state. Terminals that are not failed only display “com.google.android.inputmethod.latin” in the “installed” state.  I have tried unsuccessfully to re-enable / re-install this bundel “com.google.android.inputmethod.latin” by several different methods (Mobicontrol / Mx). My device use Agent Mobicontrol : 2024.0.2.1131 OEM version : 13-30-12.00-TG-U04-STD-HEL-04 Any ideas?

User Cert not visible after Android 13 migration

Hi guys, I need to understand how to keep already installed certificates visible (after migrating from A11 to A13) on the device in the setting UI: Settings/Security/More security settings/Encryptions & credentials/Trusted credentiakls/Tab User My customer uses cert provisioning via SOTI profiles "Certificates". Now, the issue is it is a Zebra SD660 (e.g. TC57x) device that has been migrated from A11 to A13 latest patch levels each. It is known that regarding the encryption method change from Full Disk Encryption (FDE) to File Base Encryption (FBE) there will be an enterprise reset performed prior to reboot into A13. Luckily SOTI agent and wifi profile keeps fully installed and survive the migration. Using the Zebra provided ZCP (Zebra Conversion Package) shows the same result. Anyway, ZCP is not an option. In essence all certificates previously installed also keep valid and working.  But: The user certs do not show up in the settings UI of the device anymore. This is seen as crucial problem because in any case of an issue the support person will check certificate in this UI via a remote control session. The alternative to (re-)install certs via StageNow CertMgr is no option - certs are only allowed to be installed via SOTI profiles / SCEP. Hope somebody out there have solved similar issue. All best from Germany Jörg

    Flashlight Shortcut Kiosk Mode

Hi Everyone, I am searching for an opportunity to create a shortcut for the flashlight in a lockdown. This only belongs Zebra devices with Android 13 in my case. Maybe in the future also M3 Mobile SM15X devices. Does anyone have an idea how to create such a shortcut? As I saw it correctly the flashlight isn't an application itself.

Unable to delete files Samsung Android 12/13 Solved

Hi Everyone, I have another question for you guys because I am unable to find a solution for my issue. For an app we're installing on Samsung Tab Active 3 with Android 12/13. We have to store additional files in the path: "/sdcard/Documents/App"Due to Scoped Storage we have to use a folder like this. We want to rollout a new version of this app and have the change the every file in this path mentioned above. If I update my profile where these additional files are stored than the old files won't be deleted. I tried to add a preinstall-script like "del /sdcard/Documents/App" to delete the old files. It doesn't work. The only options for me which is working is to deleted the files on every device manually over remote control. If I remove or revoke the profile nothing happens on the device. Do you have any ideas how I can delete those files because I got more than 700 devices.

How to Grant Permission on a specific category of silent notification on Android 13

There an app running on Android 13 that requires permission to send silent notification for a specific category. The android agent is 15.3.4.1113 running as enterprise. The end user, even with no profile or rules has access to change such permission. We are able to enable and disable the silent notification by script:  afw_set_permission_grant_state it.overit.enelsaopaulowfm  android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS allow The issue is that the notifications from this app has specific category and we are not able to control it by script or end user. The "diversos" that means several, comes enabled when we send the script  : afw_set_permission_grant_state it.overit.enelsaopaulowfm  android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS allow I would need to enable the permission to "Notificações de Sincronização" (sync notifications). Is there a way to send a script in order to enable a category of notification ? Is there a way to grant end user the control this permission by himself ?

Remote Control Screen blacked out during pattern unlock Samsung Tab A7 lite

Discovered an issue with unlocking tablets on Android 13. When remoted into a device, Samsung Tab A7 that is on Android 13, when you swipe to get the pattern unlock screen, the device/remote session will black out the screen, not allowing you to see the pattern. This will force Soti techs to rely on user for pattern input.  We tested the same exact device (A7) with same exact profile, but on Android 12, and we were able to see the pattern screen. This seems like a Samsung update as 12 and previous allow us to see pattern screen. I have looked at other password screens (Admin mode, JC Mobile Etc.) We are still able to see those screens. Look below looks like it can be a Samsung thing. is anyone able to confirm if this is something that was part of the latest Samsung software updates?  I took a look at our Feature Control and we have the "Allow Screen Capture" setting enabled.

Samsung Tab A7 Lite Updated to Android 13, however my System Update Policy should have blocked it. Any Ideas?

I have a Samsung Tab A7 lite on android 12. We currently have a profile with a lockdown and System update policy. The policy is set up to postpone software updates from February 7th to April 30th. Today, Feb 21st I had a device prompt me to update to Android 13 while in user mode. It looks like the update went through. We are trying to avoid and postpone Android 13 for the time being. Can someone take a look at our Update Policy and insure we set it up correctly? I have an spoken with a Soti rep during the set up of the policy and at the time he said it looked good.  edit: this device does have 3 profiles assigned to it. With only one of the three profiles having the System Update Policy configured. Do we need to configure it for each profile?
